Stewart was awarded the trophy at the year-end CASC-OR banquet
Indy Lights owner and Canadian Motorsports Hall of Fame Inductee Brian Stewart recently attended the Canadian Automobile Sport Clubs – Ontario Region awards banquet in Toronto, Ont., where he was presented with the Wayne Kelly Memorial Trophy.
The award is named in honour of Wayne Kelly, who was respected among his competitors as a winning driver and constructor.
The Kelly Memorial is awarded to the Ontario region member who has brought recognition and prestige to Ontario Motorsports.
Former winners include Brian Stewart Racing alumni Scott Maxwell and David Empringham.

Stewart is likely one of the few, if not the only recipient of this award who actually had a personal relationship with its namesake. He and Kelly shared the track on a regular basis and although they were fierce competitors, they were also very good friends.
The families were close, with the the children often playing together at Mosport International Raceway, while Stewart and Kelly raced. Unfortunately Kelly passed away following a severe accident at Mosport International Raceway while battling for the race win.
