Formula 3 elite at the World Final in Macau

Altogether, there will be six teams and 13 drivers

In late November, the Formula 3 world traditionally looks forward to an important event: the Macau Grand Prix. This unofficial World Final is contested by the best drivers of the most important Formula 3 Championships on our planet.

Track length: 6.21 kilometres
Lap record: 2:11.744 min / Marko Asmer 2007
Distance: 15 laps
Winner 2008: Keisuke Kunimoto

This year’s Formula 3 delegation is headed by reigning champion Jules Bianchi (ART Grand Prix). Altogether, there will be six teams and 13 drivers representing the world’s most competitive young-gun series on the grid of the last important Formula 3 race of the year, this weekend.

In addition to ART Grand Prix who will contest the race with Bianchi, rookie champion Valtteri Bottas and Sam Bird, the Euro Series teams Carlin Motorsport, Signature, Manor Motorsport, Prema Powerteam and Kolles & Heinz Union also will travel to the former Portuguese colony.

Signature have signed Edoardo Mortara for the race at Macau. The runner-up in the 2008 Formula 3 Euro Series, who contested this year’s GP2 season and made a Formula 3 Euro Series comeback in the 2009 season finale, finished second in last year’s Macau Grand Prix. And Brendon Hartley (Carlin Motorsport) – who finished third, last year – also is back on the Macau entry list.

Jules Bianchi (ART Grand Prix): “The Macau Grand Prix is a very special race. The circuit is difficult and it’s vital to complete as many laps as possible in the practice and qualifying sessions. Remaining absolutely focused and avoiding making any mistakes is crucial as nearly every mistake will end in the crash barriers, at Macau.

“I would love to win the race and think that my chances of doing so look bright. I’m clearly more experienced than last year when making my Macau debut and furthermore, my team, ART Grand Prix, and I have prepared really well for the race.”
