A second win on the gravel

For Tirabassi-Gordon and the Subaru Rally Team Spain

The double date of the Spanish Gravel Rally Championship in Cabanas finished successfully for the Subaru Rally Team Spain, with Brice Tirabassi, Fabrice Gordon and the KRS prepared Impreza winning the Sunday rally. The French driver’s victory is the second for the Subaru Spain works team in its maiden season in the Spanish Gravel series.

The weekend of the National Gravel Championship in Galicia was run under very tough weather conditions with heavy rain especially on Saturday, which increased the difficulty of the stages to be run throughout the two days. On the first day, Tirabassi and Gordon were running an excellent rally, being second overall at the halfway point.

However not making mistakes on the very muddy roads of the stages was nearly impossible and Brice couldn’t avoid a slight off in the first stage of the afternoon that meant his retirement.

Luckily, the damage sustained by the car wasn’t too bad and the technical staff of KRS returned the car to perfect condition to compete again on Sunday, and Tirabassi started fully focused on fighting for the win. The French driver of the Subaru Rally Team Spain scored the third best time on the first stage and was leading after the C1, keeping first position from then on thanks to error free driving.

After the first run over the short Superspecial, Brice was leading with an advantage of 11 seconds over Nani Roma and 25 ahead of Yeray Lemes, so the second part of the rally was looking really close.

But in the first stage of the afternoon, Tirabassi scored the best time with the KRS-prepared Impreza, increasing his advantage over Romá to nearly half a minute, while Lemes couldn’t avoid a mistake on the very slippery surface, finishing off the road.

Yet another fastest time on the next run of stage C further increased Tirabassi’s leader and without further problems he kept it until the end of the rally completing a magnificent performance to arrive at Cabanas as a very deserving winner.

A triumph that again shows the excellent level of the French driver and the KRS prepared Subaru Impreza that with this new win has now taken three first positions this season in events of the Spanish Rally Championships, two on gravel and one on tarmac. All in all a great outcome for the Subaru Spain works team.

Additionally, the Subaru Rally Team Spain was also present this weekend on the Cobreces rally, valid for the Cantabrian championship, where they ran with Javier Polidura. An extra effort for the KRS team, present simultaneously at two events, that was rewarded by the Impreza Prodrives working perfectly on the Galician gravel and Cantabrian tarmac.
