Patrick Long turned into a fan just like the rest of us near the end of the American Le Mans Series’ season finale at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. 

 He was caught up in the mesmorizing duel between Gil de Ferran and Adrian Fernandez at the same time teammate Jörg Bergmeister was holding off Corvette’s Jan Magnussen in what turned out to be one of the most discussed finishes ever in a Series race.

For those of you who caught the highlights of the finish, it goes without saying that there were more fireworks than just the pyrotechnics display the Series had planned for the fans to mark the end of 2009,” Long says on his latest SPEEDtv.com column.
