Creten sweeps Montreal Monster Spectacular
First Canadian backflip by Larry Quick, a real crowd pleasure!
The 2009 Monster Spectacular at Olympic Stadium is in the books and wouldn’t you know it, Jimmy Creten sweeps again! It was an incredible event in Montreal as twelve trucks competed in racing and freestyle and Larry Quick attempted to perform the first ever backflip in Canada.

Racing would be all 2Xtreme Racing as Joe Miller in Iron Outlaw and Jimmy Creten in Bounty Hunter marched through the brackets on their way to the finals. In the championship race, Creten would just be too strong despite a valiant effort from Miller as he picked up the huge racing victory.

After racing was completed, Larry Quick rolled out in Ghost Ryder to attempt the monster truck backflip, hoping to be the first to complete one in Canada. Larry nailed the attempt and landed it perfectly on all fours as the crowd of over 45,000 went crazy!

Freestyle would see great runs from Rick Long in Bigfoot, Joe Miller in Iron Outlaw, and Dan Patrick in Samson, but the battle for the win would be between just two trucks.
Breakage claimed heavy hitters like Amsoil Shock Therapy, Avenger and Brutus.
Rich Hilgendorf in Weapon 1 put on an amazing freestyle as, after blowing a tire on the second hit, he continued on, launching over the biggest stuff on the floor before a nasty rollover ended his run with seconds left on the clock. It would take an extraordinary effort to beat him but one driver was up to the task.
That driver would none other than the racing winner Jimmy Creten. Creten piloted Bounty Hunter like the pro that he is, getting huge air off everything and keeping up tons of momentum.
As time expired, Creten cross-threaded the huge delivery van stack and got hung up, flipping the truck over on its side to end his run. As the crowd erupted in thunderous applaus for Bounty Hunter, there was little doubt that Creten had pulled it off, sweeping Montreal.
Flagworld’s own Dany Flageole was on site and we are proud to propose his photo and video albums of the evening. We also wish to take this opportunity to thank Chris Arel and his organization for the invitation and we look forward to next year event.
