Jerez Test 6-8 October 2009: Driver Announcement
iSport will be back on the track in Jerez next week to test a new batch of drivers for the 2010 GP2 Series.
iSport will be testing Oliver Turvey, Marcus Ericsson, Jerome d’Ambrosio, and Bruno Senna.Â
Brit Oliver Turvey tested for iSport last year and comes back to the team after racing for Carlin in World Series by Renault and lies 5th in the championship with one round to go. Swede Marcus Ericsson also tested with iSport last year and is fresh from being crowned Japanese F3 Champion with TOMS. Experienced GP2 racer Jerome d’Ambrosio, has been racing in GP2 for two years and finished runner up in GP2 Asia this year and 9th in the 2009 GP2 Series.
iSport is also pleased to welcome back former driver Bruno Senna who took iSport to 2nd in the team and driver’s championship in 2008. Bruno will be assisting iSport in the development of the car and also taking the opportunity to get back into the seat of a single seater race car after driving endurance prototypes this year in Le Mans Series.   Â
Bruno Senna asked to test GP2 Series in Jerez
Brazilian joins iSport development programme
Invited by iSport, the team for which he finished runner-up in the 2008 season, Bruno Senna will make a quick – and probably final – appearance in the GP2 Series. The Brazilian driver has been asked to work on the development of the team’s car for next year and will drive on the third and final day of post-season testing session in Jerez de la Frontera (Spain) on Thursday.
Bruno, who won at Monaco and Silverstone for iSport in GP2 last season, explained: “iSport will sign new drivers for 2010 and I will help them by providing a benchmark whilst working on the set up and performance of the car. I got a call from team-owner Paul Jackson and could not resist giving them a helping hand as we built a very good relationship during our days together.
“For me it is also a good opportunity to drive a single-seater again, as this year I have been mainly driving endurance prototypes in the Le Mans Series. I don’t think it will take many laps at all to get back to where I was a year ago with this car. It is a very familiar working environment for me and I am looking forward to trying to push the performance development of the car even further with the team who I had so much success with a year ago.â€
The brief comeback to GP2 Series does not mean the category is on the cards for 2010. On the contrary, the expectations regarding a Formula 1 début remain high. “Our latest talks proved even more exciting. Everything keeps going well and the pace of negotiations has increased in the last few weeks. I’m looking forward to having good news in the coming days,†Bruno concluded.

Six drivers to test with Fat Burner Racing Engineering at Jerez
Fat Burner Racing Engineering is pleased to announce that Diego Nunes, Roldán RodrÃguez, Kamui Kobayashi, Sten Pentus, Jérôme D’Ambrosio and Dani Clos will test for the Andalusian team during the upcoming GP2 tests at the Circuito de Jerez in Southern Spain.
Only two weeks after the end of the 2009 GP2 Championship in Portimao, the GP2 teams start their preparation for the 2010 season. The Fat Burner Racing Engineering Team approaches the collective GP2 tests with the objective to evaluate the drivers and find the best driver pair for the 2010 season. During the three days test at the Circuito de Jerez (6th-8th of October), the Spanish Team is welcoming six drivers with previous experience at the wheel of a GP2 car.
At the team’s ‘home’ track, Diego Nunes and Roldán RodrÃguez will drive the two Fat Burner Racing Engineering cars during the first day. Brazilian Nunes, who made his debut in GP2 in 2008, competed in the GP2 Asia Series, GP2 Series, and Euroseries 3000 in 2009.
Teammate for the day, RodrÃguez, has a vast experience under his belt after racing for the last three years in both, the GP2 and GP2 Asia Championship. Furthermore, the 24-years-old Spaniard has already tasted what it is like to drive a Formula One car after testing for the Minardi Team in 2005 and becoming Force India’s winter test driver in 2007-2008.
Kamui Kobayashi and Sten Pentus will take over duties on Wednesday. Kobayashi, who raced in GP2 for the second season in 2009, showed a very competitive pace during the GP2 Asia Championship. The 23 years-old Japanese, official test driver of the Toyota F1 Team, was crowned champion after scoring two victories, 2 pole positions, four podiums and three fastest laps. Estonian Sten Pentus, on the other hand, tested with Fat Burner Racing Engineering already last year and has been racing in the World Series by Renault this season.
On the last of the three test days in Jerez, Jérôme D’Ambrosio and Dani Clos will have the opportunity to show the Spanish Team their skills. For the Spanish driver, this will be another chance to carry on working with the team he has raced with during the 2009 season.
Clos, who is part of the Williams F1 Team Young Drivers Program, celebrated his GP2 debut in 2009 and obtained his first podium in the last race of the season in Portimao. Belgian D’Ambrosio had a good campaign throughout 2009 after finishing this year’s GP2 championship in 9th place, and being runner-up in the GP2 Asia Series.

SCUDERIA COLONI STARTS THE ENGINES FOR 2010 TESTING VALSECCHI, VALERIO, ONIDI, BONANOMI AND BRATT IN JEREZ
After a great final part of the 2009 season, with the team running on a positive trend and a race win on home soil in Monza, Scuderia Coloni is ready to get back on track to prepare another season in the GP2 Main Series.
The championship will re-start its engines on the 6,7 and 8 October in Jerez with the first three-day test session and, obviously, Scuderia Coloni will be there with two cars in order to try as much as 5 drivers, taking the first benchmarks useful to define the 2010 line-up.
Davide Valsecchi, Alberto Valerio, Fabio Onidi, Marco Bonanomi and Will Bratt will take the wheel of the Dallara cars sponsored by PartyPoker Racing.
Valsecchi is one of Italy’s faster and most talented drivers, racing at the highest level from 2006 and able to take a win and three podiums in GP2 Asia last season, then confirming his performances also in the Main Series.
The brazilian Valerio, instead, growed in the British F.3 but in the last two seasons he raced in GP2, taking his first win in 2009, on a challenging track like Silverstone.
In the five pilots group, three of them have something in common: Onidi, Bonanomi and Bratt are in a close fight for the Euroseries 3000 title. The champion will be known only after the last two races, held in Monza on October 18th. The winning driver will get a fully funded season in GP2 Asia with Scuderia Coloni, so this is a good occasion for them to prepare and take the most out of it.

Ocean Racing Technology prepare for GP2 Asia Series
First test in Spain heralds the dawn of a new season
After just a short break, Ocean Racing Technology will be back in action once again when they take to the Jerez Frontera circuit in Spain, for the first winter test of the GP2 Asia Series ahead of the 2009/10 season opener at Abu Dhabi at the end of October.
After their first complete season in the GP2 Main Series, where they secured their first victory, three podiums and 44 points, the Portuguese team is aiming to be even more competitive and intends to make the Jerez test very profitable, as well as those at Paul Ricard in November, in order to determine the official line up of the team directed by Tiago Monteiro and Jose Guedes.
Now, after a full season during which Ocean Racing Technology showed the true extent of its know-how, Tiago Monteiro is confident of making the right choices: “We are already satisfied with the screening we made on the drivers market and we know with whom we will run in Jerez. We chose them because they’re young and because they’ve all been successful in the categories they’ve competed in. Most of them don’t have GP2 experience but it is a source of motivation for them because they know they have to give the maximum in a very competitive car.”
The drivers who will take to the wheel for the Jerez testing session for Ocean Racing Technology are (Swiss) Fabio Leimer, (Czech) Josef Kral, (Venezuelan) Rodolfo Gonzalez and (French) Charles Pic. Jose Guedes explained the way the things will work out:”It is almost certain we will have an experienced driver alongside a rookie. It seems to us it is a good balance which will allow us to gather two different talents with two specific career plans.
Jerez will be the first step. During the three days in Jerezthey will have the opportunity to run intensively. Later on, at the Paul Ricard track, we will test five drivers and from then on we will be able to decide which drivers will race for us next season. These tests, as well as the one just before the Abu Dhabi meeting, are very important for the selection of the drivers who will defend Ocean Racing Technology’s colours in the Asian championship.”
The first two races of the GP2 Asia Championship will take place between October 30 and November 1. This year, the GP2 Asia Series will have four race weekends, between Abu Dhabi and Bahrain. The decision to shorten the championship is aimed at reducing the travel costs of the teams. But before they make their voyage to Asia, all eyes will be on Spain where the four drivers selected by Ocean Racing Technology will have to put their know-how into practice and prove they can continues to reinforce the team.

Van der Garde joins Barwa Addax at Jerez
Giedo van der Garde will test for Barwa Addax in the official GP2 test at Jerez this Wednesday. The testing will be used for the team and driver to have the opportunity to get to know each other better, in order to see if there is the potential for a seat for Giedo with Barwa Addax for the 2010 GP2 Main Series.
Driving for iSport International Giedo finished in his first GP2 year in seventh position. This result meant he finished behind eventual champion Nico Hulkenburg as best ‘’rookie’’ for the 2009 series. After a difficult start to the season his results improved and culminated in three wins on the circuits of Hungaroring, Spa-Francorchamps and Monza (wet race) in the second half of the season.
Giedo: ‘’My development during the season and my strong and consistent performances in the last races give me a lot of confidence for the forthcoming season. My target is to be champion in 2010’’.
Giedo is keeping his options open for 2010 as alongside Barwa Addax there are several teams that are interested in racing with Giedo in 2010. There are also conversations with iSport International about continuation of his current team contract in 2010.
