F2000 set for 2012
Last year’s Series Champion, Remy Audette, has graduated to sports cars, leaving the Championship wide open for a new title holder.

The 14 race, seven-weekend 2012 F2000 Championship Series is about to get going, with a 30-car-plus field expected at VIRginia International Raceway this Thursday for testing prior to a three-day race weekend. The big story coming into VIR is the sharp end of the field, with most of the top 2011 pilots returning, joined by a crop of new aspiring drivers, in addition to the proliferation of brand new cars throughout the F2000 paddock.

Francesco Sini is ready to take his season to the next level. The 31-year-old, Abruzzo-based racer, who cruised to an excellent third-place finish in Race 2 at Monza, celebrated the debut of Solaris Motorsport in the International Superstars Series arena, and is now eager to repeat at Imola.

Susie Wolff appointed Development Driver for the Williams F1 Team
The Williams F1 Team (Ticker: WGF1) today confirmed that Susie Wolff will join the team as its Development Driver.

Born in Scotland, Susie Wolff has had the classic racing career, beginning in karting and then moving to junior single-seater series and was twice nominated for the prestigious Young Driver of the Year Award before moving up to DTM. In 2012, Susie will contest her seventh season in DTM.

Shareholder calls on Mercedes to quit F1
A Daimler shareholder has called on the German car giant to pull its works Mercedes team out of formula one.

Fund manager Ingo Speich, of the Daimler shareholder Union Investment, said at Daimler’s annual general meeting that he is disappointed Mercedes has lost ground to road car rivals Audi and BMW.

More passing in 2012 than early last year – report
This year, there were 70 passes in Australia-Malaysia combined.

The 2012 season has kicked off promisingly, with more overtaking moves recorded in the first two races than in the same exciting period last year. The finding is significant, given the highly lauded contribution early in 2011 made by the new passing aid ‘DRS’, and new official supplier Pirelli’s heavily-degrading tyres.

ACT looks to VP Fuel to go “green” in 2012
VP Racing Fuel becomes official fuel of ACT and Thunder Road

The American Canadian Tour (ACT) announced today that VP Racing Fuels (VP) would become the “Official Fuel” of ACT for 2012. The ambitious program will begin a major effort on the part of ACT to create both a more “green” environment, and equally important, to begin to contain fuel expenses for over 400 Late Model race teams in the ACT system, and 100 competitors at Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl in Barre, VT.
