Factory-backed effort set to debut later this season

SRT Viper Racing is set to debut its competition-ready SRT Viper GTS-R later in 2012, Chrysler Group officials announced today at the New York Auto Show.

Jenson Button has revealed he will “definitely” remain loyal to McLaren for the next few years.

It was reported this week that the 2009 world champion received an “offer” from Ferrari last year to replace the struggling Felipe Massa. According to the Brazilian news agency Agencia Estado, those talks took place prior to October last year, when the 32-year-old Briton signed a new ‘multi year contract’ to stay at McLaren.

Ferrari is planning to follow Sauber’s lead when the first major development of the disappointing F2012 car is unveiled soon.

“No doubt about it,” Fernando Alonso said after winning the Malaysian grand prix, “they (Sauber) were quicker than us.” The Italian magazine Autosprint have mischievously christened the updated Ferrari a ‘Ferrauber’, explaining that the rear of the ‘B’ F2012 will be very similar to Sauber’s impressive C31.

Fernando Alonso’s win was a complete surprise, but the name of another team was on more paddock-dwellers’ lips after Malaysia — Sauber.

“Only one team could do consistently good laptimes on all the tyres and in all the conditions, and it was Sauber,” confirmed Martin Whitmarsh, whose McLaren team had travelled to Sepang with arguably the fastest car.

The Formula 3 Euro Series will contest the 2012 season with a new tyre partner.

With immediate effect, the single-seaters of the planet’s most competitive young-gun series will be shod with high-performance racing tyres supplied by Hankook Tire. The two-year deal signed by the ’Formel 3 Euro Serie Vermarktungs GmbH’ and the Korean manufacturer guarantees both parties involved a long-term planning reliability. DTM – the platform all the Formula 3 Euro Series rounds will be held on – switched to Hankook tyres as early as 2011 and the DTM drivers were very happy with the performance of the Hankook racing tyres, in their debut season.

Between them they have accumulated 48 track and/or touring series championships during their careers. The annual opening New Hampshire Governor’s Cup 150 at Lee USA Speedway is expected to field the best opening day group of racers in its 22 event history.
