No Petronas backing for the Factory Yamaha MotoGP team in 2012
The Factory Yamaha Team, which raced without a title sponsor in MotoGP this season, will be without Petronas backing in 2012. The Malaysian oil and gas corporation came on-board with Yamaha in 2009 (when Fiat was the title sponsor) and thus shared in two consecutive Triple Crown MotoGP victories – the Riders’, Constructors and Teams’ titles – in 2009 and 2010.

Alexander Rossi reflects on 2011 a year of ‘hard work’ and ‘many new successes’
American youngster Alexander Rossi believes he is now ‘many steps closer to F1′ following a successful 2011. Rossi, who finished third overall in the World Series by Renault 3.5 Series this year and who is also a senior member of the Team Lotus (now Caterham) F1 Driver development programme, added he is ‘excited’ about 2012 and the future, although his plans for next season have still to be officially announced.

SVDP Racing the Dubai based racing team have entered the 2012 edition of the Dubai 24hr race where they will be racing their BMW 120d
This will be the teams 3rd 24hr race after competing in the Britcar 24hr race at Silverstone in 2010 and the 2011 edition of the Dubai 24hr race. The team and car finished a creditable 34th overall at Silverstone (the teams 1st ever 24hr race) and 2nd in class in the 2011Dubai 24hr race.

Mercedes is sure formula one engines will still sound good when the regulations change significantly in 2014
The German marque, whose F1 engines are designed and built in Northamptonshire, is believed to be imminently ready to fire up its first 1.6 litre turbocharged V6. But after the sound of F1 changed when the sport moved from normally-aspirated V10 to its current V8 engines in 2006, there have been fears the cars could sound comparatively tame when they are powered by turbo V6s in 2014.

Sebastian Vettel could be on a winning streak that races him past the record-setting achievements of Michael Schumacher
That is the claim of Jean Todt, who before becoming president of F1′s governing FIA was Schumacher’s boss and close personal friend as Ferrari team principal. Schumacher was 26 when, in 1995, he became world champion for the second time — a milestone reached by Vettel in 2011 at the tender age of 24.
