It was a positive test for Marussia Manor Racing
Marussia Manor Racing was back out on track this week (25-26 October) at the first post-season GP3 Series test that took place at the Circuit de Catalunya in Spain. Matias Laine was back at the wheel of the car for the first time since the 2011 season ended. Colombian-American driver Gabby Chaves was testing in the second Marussia Manor Racing car after finishing the GP3 season in 11th position with the Addax Team.

Both HRT F111 cars will have the image of a black ribbon painted on the livery during the Indian Grand Prix.
This gesture is to commemorate the lives of Dan Wheldon and Marco Simoncelli who passed away in motorsport accidents. Dan Wheldon was an extremely talented English Indy Car driver who had won the prestigious Indy 500 on two occasions and the Indy Car Championship in 2005. He was involved in a fatal collision at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on the 16th of October, 2011 and sadly passed away at the age of 33.

Williams F1 and Hatch announce Partnership
Williams F1 and professional services firm Hatch announced today that they have created a partnership to develop new products and services for current and potential mining, energy, infrastructure and industrial clients. The partnership will also develop education initiatives to encourage young people to explore careers in engineering industries.

Bernie Ecclestone has admitted that formula one destroyed his long marriage.
The F1 chief executive was married to Slavica, the mother of his two daughters, for almost 25 years until 2009. “I have worked very, very hard for formula one and probably so intensively that it destroyed my marriage,” Ecclestone, to turn 81 on Friday, told Germany’s Die Welt newspaper.

The Russian federal government has committed to invest heavily in the country’s inaugural grand prix in 2014.
The Ria Novosti news agency reports that the circuit in Sochi, located on the Black Sea coast, is to be built at a cost of towards US $200 million. And the Krasnodar region’s deputy governor Alaxander Ivanov is quoted by Reuters: “The federal government has allocated $195.4 million for this project.”

The promoter of F1′s newly announced New York round has denied doubting the separate US grand prix in Texas will ever take place. Austin is scheduled to host the sport on a purpose-built circuit late next year, but there has been speculation construction is seriously delayed and that state funding may be in danger.

Mark Webber has admitted he is focused on overtaking his rivals to take second place in the drivers’ world championship.
With the drivers’ and constructors’ titles now both in the bag, Red Bull boss Christian Horner said recently that helping Webber climb from fourth to second is the team’s remaining objective for 2011.

Nico Hulkenberg and Paul di Resta are refusing to believe they will definitely front Force India’s race driver lineup in 2012.
It is now expected that the team’s long-time regular Adrian Sutil may have to seek alternate employment, with Friday driver Hulkenberg set to step up to the race seat alongside rookie Scot di Resta.

He admitted that the first step for Pic is a seat in November’s young driver test in Abu Dhabi.
French GP2 driver Charles Pic’s manager has confirmed talks about securing a place in formula one next year for the 21-year-old. Pic, fourth in this year’s GP2 championship, has been linked recently with a Toro Rosso test in Abu Dhabi next month, and possibly a race seat with Virgin in 2012.

“The Race Of Champions is a great event” – Tom Kristensen
Motor sport legend Tom Kristensen will compete in his 11th consecutive Race Of Champions at Düsseldorf’s ESPRIT arena in December. The Dane has won the Le Mans 24-Hour race more than any man in history, with a total of eight victories and counting. Kristensen will partner Mattias Ekström for Team Nordic in a field that already features three F1 world champions.

Loix and Miclotte will head to Cyprus next week to chase IRC title glory
Freddy Loix’s co-driver Frederic Miclotte says the BFO-SKODA Rally Team pair won’t give up on their dream of winning the Intercontinental Rally Challenge crown despite conceding they start the title showdown in Cyprus next month with a disadvantage to their rivals.
Miki Monras led the way during today’s (Thursday) official FIA Formula Two Championship test in Barcelona, ahead of the final rounds of the season.
