Invincible in a Full Year of the Canadian Rally Championship …
Leaders of the Canadian Rally Championship and the North American Rally Cup heading into this weekend’s Rallye Défi, Quebec driver Antoine L’Estage (of St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, QC) and his co-driver Nathalie Richard (of Halifax, NS) had a problem free performance, which was capped off with the overall victory.

Intercontinental Rally Challenge, round 8 of 11
SKODA Motorsport’s Jan Kopecky won the 45. Canon Mecsek Rallye by the smallest margin in the history of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge after a dramatic final day of action. In an event marked by close battles throughout the field, Team Peugeot Belgium-Luxembourg’s Thierry Neuville won the final stage but lost out to the Czech driver overall by just 0.8s.

2011 Canadian Touring Car Championship Final …
Drivers Luc Lesage, of Trois-Rivières (QC), and Jocelyn Fecteau, of Mont-St-Grégoire (QC), contested this past weekend’s final 2011 Canadian Touring Car Championship at the ICAR circuit in Mirabel. The races were not at all relaxing for the two drivers but the points earned enables Scion to claim third spot in the overall Manufacturers’ Touring class standings.

German claims final win of season
Christian Vietoris has held on against race long pressure from Fabio Leimer to claim his second victory of the season this morning in the sprint race at Monza: the German led his Swiss rival and Jules Bianchi from lights to flag in the final race of the 2011 GP2 season.

Status Grand Prix driver seals first GP3 Series™ victory at Autodromo Nazionale Monza
Antonio Felix Da Costa took his first victory this season in what was a dramatic final race of the 2011 GP3 Series™. The Portuguese driver finished ahead of championship runner-up James Calado, but the Lotus ART driver was handed a 20-second penalty for failing to take a drive-through penalty after causing a collision with Mitch Evans. Marussia Manor Racing’s Rio Haryanto was promoted to second and Nico Müller took the final podium spot.

Jenson Button furrowed his brow at Monza when he considered how Sebastian Vettel had dominated qualifying.
“Difficult to understand,” said the McLaren driver. Vettel, indeed, was half a second quicker around the high speed Autodromo Nazionale with a small wing setting and a Renault engine not expected to dominate. His top speed was the least impressive in the entire field, a full 22kph down compared with the best.

Nico Rosberg has been offered a new contract to keep him at Mercedes GP for at least four more years.
That is the claim on Sunday of the German Bild am Sonntag newspaper, adding that negotiations between the Brackley based team and the 26-year-old driver are “ongoing”. The German marque’s Norbert Haug said: “Nico and Mercedes are interested in a very long term cooperation.”

Williams F1 congratulated its test driver, Valtteri Bottas, on winning the 2011 GP3 championship
After claiming his maiden GP3 victory in a wet race at the Nürburgring in July, Valtteri went on to take wins in Hungary and Belgium before sealing the crown in Italy yesterday. Valtteri fought through from fifth on the grid to take the lead in the first race in Monza before holding off the charge from title rival James Calado in the closing laps to take the chequered flag and the GP3 title.

Sauber is paying the price for its decision to scrap development of the blown exhaust system in 2011.
That is the claim of team owner and boss Peter Sauber, recalling a few months ago when the FIA decided to immediately ban the technology. “Our system doesn’t work properly,” he told the Sonntagsblick newspaper. “When they tried to ban it all in Barcelona, we decided to stop with all the expensive development.”

Tony Fernandes has hinted strongly that he will drop the Team Lotus name for his formula one team ahead of the 2012 season.
The Malaysian entrepreneur has been locked in a bitter dispute with Renault sponsor Group Lotus but won the legal right to keep deploying the name for his Hingham-based team. But Fernandes, also the owner of the AirAsia airline, has subsequently bought the British specialist sports car maker Caterham and renamed his GP2 team Caterham Team AirAsia.

Team Lotus confirms Trulli for 2012
Team Lotus has today announced that it has extended Jarno Trulli’s contract to take the Italian into his third season with the Anglo / Malaysian squad. Jarno was first confirmed alongside Heikki Kovalainen in late 2009 and has played an integral role in the development of the team from its entry into the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship to its current position in 2011, closing the gap to the established teams ahead and laying the foundations for a long-term challenge for the ultimate Formula One honours.

Two formula one teams are eyeing the area around Silverstone, Northamptonshire (UK) as a likely location for new factories.
Struggling Virgin’s main base at present is Dinnington, in rural South Yorkshire, but the Yorkshire Post reports that a move closer to new technical partner McLaren is on the cards. Team boss John Booth confirmed that the team is set to move temporarily to Banbury, Oxfordshire, with a permanent headquarters to be built near Silverstone in 2012.

Marco Wittmann (Signature) was victorious in the third Formula 3 Euro Series race at the 5.901 kilometres long Silverstone circuit.
In spite of a drive through penalty for jumping the start, points’ leader Roberto Merhi (Prema Powerteam) still to the chequered flag in second place. Carlos Muñoz (Signature) ended up third in the race that had many entertaining position fights. With six races remaining, Merhi’s advantage in the drivers’ standings is 76 points, Wittmann has moved up into second place again.

Contact between leaders nets him Canadian Tire victory at Barrie
Mark Dilley took advantage of a skirmish between the leaders to claim the Wild Wing 300 presented by Independent Electric Saturday night at Barrie Speedway. Dilley was running third on the green-white-checkered finish when Kerry Micks tapped race leader J.R. Fitzpatrick in Turn 1. Fitzpatrick spun and Dilley got past Micks to claim his third career victory.

U.S. Team Takes Fourth Straight Overall
Seven-time ACT Tour Champion Brian Hoar of Williston, VT dominated the fourth annual “Showdown at Chaudiere” and led the U.S. team to the overall win and the $500 bonus per U.S. team. Hoar led every one of the 200 laps at Autodrome Chaudiere in Vallee, Jct., QC on Saturday, September 10. He held off several Canadian teams including Jean-François Déry and Karl Allard early, before outrunning Patrick Laperle in the final laps.

Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship presented by Continental Tire
Saturday, competitors of the Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship presented by Continental Tire (CTCC) battled a very clean, yet very competitive race on Circuit ICAR. On the Starting grid, Super Class driver Sasha Anis held the pole position in his Hyundai Genesis Coupe followed by Etienne Borgeat in his Pontiac Solstice and Philip Fayer, also in a Pontiac Solstice.

Michel Nykjær got one fourth place at Ring Knutstorp
Michel Nykjær had his first start in the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship on Saturday at Ring Knutstorp, where Chevrolet Motorsport Sweden had struck a deal with Pole Position Denmark to let Michel Nykjær support the team in its efforts to win this year’s title with Richard Rydell. And the new collaboration was successful. Rickard Rydell managed to reduce his gap to championship leader Fredrik Ekblom from 11 to two points before the final in three weeks’ time at Mantorp Park.
