Team Canada announces winner of the 2012 Scholarship
Team Canada Racing scholarship announces 2011 winner!

Xavier Coupal from Quebec has been chosen as the very first winner of the inaugural Team Canada Racing Scholarship! Enjoying a superb season in the very competitive Formula Tour 1600 Series, Xavier has consistently shown great speed, race craft, and sportsmanship. Whitmarsh admits boycott threat over India tax issue
Martin Whitmarsh on Friday played down reports the inaugural Indian grand prix could be called off due to a tax issue.

But the McLaren principal, who doubles as the chairman of the teams association FOTA, admitted that the issue needs to be sorted before the F1 circus can commit to travelling to Delhi next month.

Kimiya Sato fourth for the first time

Roberto Merhi (Prema Powerteam, 1:52.868 minutes) set the fastest time in Formula 3 Euro Series qualifying at the 5.901 kilometres long Grand Prix circuit in Silverstone. The 20-year old Spaniard was 0.168 seconds faster than his compatriot and team-mate Daniel Juncadella (Prema Powerteam, 1:53.036 minutes), who ended up second. Masters winner Felix Rosenqvist (Mücke Motorsport, 1:53.444 minutes) followed in third place.

Trummer tops dramatic practice session
MW Arden’s Simon Trummer quickest in Practice 2 in Italy

The final round of the GP3 Series™ continued this afternoon with the second practice session at Autodromo Nazionale Monza. Simon Trummer eventually claimed the top spot with a time of 1:45.103 set on his very last lap. The Swiss driver beat out Tom Dillmann who had been top for the majority of the incident filled session. Lotus ART’s championship contenders Valtteri Bottas and James Calado watched the session from the pits choosing to save their tyres for qualifying tomorrow.

Pirelli to involve FIA over tyre camber saga
Pirelli could involve F1′s governing body to ensure the safety of its tyres.

At Spa two weeks ago, the tyres on some cars – notably the Red Bulls – worryingly blistered. The cause of the problem was traced to aggressive front camber angle, as Adrian Newey confirmed that Red Bull had slightly breached Pirelli’s recommendation about not exceeding 4 degrees.

Red Bull Racing and Renault announce new agreement
Red Bull Racing and Renault Sport F1 are pleased to confirm the extension of their successful partnership for a further five years.


The new fuel efficient 1.6L V6-turbo power unit to be introduced from 2014 will be incorporated in the framework of an enhanced collaboration. Building upon the existing world-championship winning partnership, Renault Sport F1 will continue to supply V8 engines and KERS Motor Generator Units to Red Bull Racing for 2012 and 2013, with the new agreement repositioning the relationship between Red Bull Racing and Renault to a premium technical co-operation.

Dyer linked with Mercedes on F1 paddock return

Chris Dyer has returned to a formula one paddock for the first time since Ferrari’s bungled race strategy in Abu Dhabi ten months ago. The Australian, formerly Ferrari’s head of track engineering, was ousted by the famous Italian team after Fernando Alonso failed to win the 2010 title at the last hurdle.

Pirelli moves further to limit camber
Pirelli chief Paul Hembery said Monza is “very hard” for the tyres

In a further blow to Red Bull’s hopes ahead of the Italian grand prix, Pirelli has issued yet another clampdown on its guidelines about tyre camber. It had already emerged that, after the tyres on the winning RB7 cars worryingly blistered at Spa two weeks ago, F1′s official supplier had told teams to limit their camber angles to just 3.75 degrees at Monza.

McLaren gambles again with big Monza wing
McLaren may have got it wrong when designing its bespoke rear wing for Monza, according to Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport.

“If you walk up and down the pitlane you’ll see that some cars have a wing on that looks like the thickness of two sheets of paper,” said the team’s Jenson Button. Auto Motor und Sport reports that McLaren’s is visibly the biggest of them all.

‘Aggressive’ Hamilton knocked unconscious in Spa crash
Lewis Hamilton thinks he was knocked unconscious after crashing out of the recent Belgian grand prix.

Cockpit replays of the incident, where the McLaren driver actually dented the Spa-Francorchamps barriers after clashing with Kamui Kobayashi, showed Hamilton completely motionless for 15 seconds in the wake of the impact.
