Racing Engineering driver sails to Spa win. Dams driver crowned Champion
It’s a beautiful day in Spa for Christian Vietoris and Romain Grosjean: the German racer drove flawlessly in tricky conditions to take his first win of the season while the Frenchman clinched the seventh GP2 SeriesTM title after he finished third in today’s feature race. Jules Bianchi finished second.

Finn takes lights-to-flag victory at Spa-Francorchamps to extend Series lead
Valtteri Bottas stamped his authority on the 2011 GP3 Series once again this afternoon with a commanding win in Race 1. The Finn finished 6.495 seconds ahead of his teammate and pole sitter James Calado to lead a Lotus ART 1-2.

Pastor Maldonado could be thrown out of the Belgian grand prix for an incident during qualifying at wet Spa-Francorchamps.
After the Williams driver collided lightly with Lewis Hamilton as the McLaren passed him at the end of Q2, Venezuelan rookie Maldonado crashed into his British rival as they then climbed the hill to Eau Rouge. “There should never be an incident after the red lights but unfortunately there was,” said Hamilton.

Marko in ‘no hurry’ over Webber’s birthday present
Red Bull Racing is pleased to announce that Mark Webber’s contract has been extended for another year, meaning the Australian will continue to drive for the team in 2012. Mark Webber said: “I want to continue racing at the top in Formula One so it’s a nobrainer to remain at Red Bull Racing for another year. ”

Former F1 winner Heinz-Harald Frentzen has said it will be difficult for Sebastian Vettel’s rivals to chase down his championship advantage in 2011. “At the moment they (Red Bull) can only defeat themselves,” he told the Austrian portal laola1.

Ferrari is planning to have the first prototype of its 2014 V6 turbo engine up and running some time next year.
F1′s engine manufacturers are already making plans for the forthcoming end of the current V8 engine era, with new regulations for 2014 now in place. The current rules have been effectively frozen for some time, but Ferrari’s engine chief Luca Marmorini revealed at Spa-Francorchamps that his department has been busy in 2011 with the blown exhaust developments.

Rubens Barrichello has reportedly confessed that he might lose his seat at Williams due to the team’s “economic problem”. The Brazilian veteran on Saturday posted on Twitter a photo of the special helmet he wore at Honda when he broke the all-time record of 256 grands prix.

Speculation reported on Friday about the future of Team Lotus’ identity might have been wide of the mark.
The Finnish newspaper Turun Sanomat said Tony Fernandes’ outfit will probably be renamed Caterham Team AirAsia for 2012, with the Lotus logos to be dropped as soon as the forthcoming Italian grand prix at Monza.

Lotus ART dominate in Belgium
James Calado took his first GP3 pole position for Lotus ART after an epic battle for pole position at Spa-Francorchamps today. The British driver finished just 0.088 seconds ahead of his teammate and Series leader Valtteri Bottas proving that the reigning champions are still the team to beat this season.
