Tim Minor was fastest followed by Rémy Audette
Masters Class veteran Tim Minor ended up on the top of the combined time sheets after three twilight practice sessions for the F2000 Championship Series at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in his #88 Ski Motorsports Van Diemen. Minor was followed by Championship leader Remy Audette, who was second fastest ahead of Zach Veach, for ArmsUp Motorsports, Kyle Connery and John LaRue.

The highest placed American drivers under 20 years-old in both the F2000 Championship Series and the F1600 Formula F Championship Series prior to the conclusion of the season (following F2000 at Mosport and F1600 at Mid-Ohio) will be included among the list of candidates for prestigious Team USA Scholarships.

Brett McCormick comes into the second and third rounds of the Canadian Superbike Championship by Parts Canada with a couple of winning streaks on the go, and the 19-year-old from Saskatoon is in a good position to keep the string going.

Development programme confirmed for LMP1 sports prototype
Porsche returns to Le Mans with a works-run LMP1 sports prototype. The first outing of the completely new developed race car is planned for the year 2014. With 16 overall victories, Porsche is the most successful manufacturer in Le Mans. The most recent win was in 1998 with the Porsche 911 GT1.

Daniel Ricciardo is poised to make his formula one race debut at Silverstone next weekend.

Australian media reports say the 21-year-old, backed strongly by Red Bull and until now the Friday driver at Toro Rosso, will replace HRT regular Narain Karthikeyan at Silverstone.

Red Bull could lose up to five tenths of a second per lap when the exhaust blowing clampdown takes effect at Silverstone next weekend. But team boss Christian Horner has thrown a cat amongst the pigeons by saying on Austrian television Servus TV that, until now, the RB7 has only been benefitting from “cold blowing”, not the “hot” concept that is so effective when the drivers are off the throttle under braking and in corners.

After Montreal, Austrian legend Lauda called McLaren’s Hamilton “completely mad”
McLaren slapped a three-race ban on Niki Lauda after the triple world champion’s hefty criticism of Lewis Hamilton recently. After Montreal, Austrian legend Lauda – now the regular pundit for Germany’s RTL coverage – called McLaren’s Hamilton “completely mad” and warned that his aggressive driving “will result in someone getting killed”.

Sebastien Buemi has hit back at claims he has become the driver under pressure at Toro Rosso.
Rumours in Valencia had indicated the Swiss’ teammate Jaime Alguersuari was most in danger of losing his race seat to Daniel Ricciardo after struggling to match Buemi’s pace so far in 2011. But Spaniard Alguersuari, 21, drove strongly to two consecutive eighth places in Montreal and Valencia, triggering new speculation that it is Buemi whose future is now most in doubt.

Italian tyre supplier Pirelli has shown it does not favour Ferrari by deciding to take its hardest compound to Silverstone next week. Team boss Stefano Domenicali as well as Ferrari driver Felipe Massa had openly admitted they hoped Pirelli would swerve the hardest tyre because the Italia 150 car has struggled on it elsewhere this season.

It seems the next twist in the road will be efforts to move the race’s provisional debut date
The 2012 US grand prix is back on the right track after the Austin council signed off the Circuit of the Americas’ Texan state funding. After a vote was delayed last week and a dissenting new member was sworn in, it was feared a negative outcome could sound the project’s death knell.

The Le Mans class winning Zytek-Nissan of Greaves Motorsport will be seeking its third victory of the year at Imola, Italy this weekend. Lola LMP customers head to the fourth round of the inaugural Intercontinental Le Mans Cup and third race of the 2011 Le Mans Series at Imola near Bologna this weekend on the crest of a wave after exceptional results at the Le Mans 24 Hours earlier this month.

Audette is coming off a double-win at Mid-Ohio
Six races down, eight to go, the F2000 Championship Series heads for the mid-point of the 2011 title fight this weekend at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Championship points’ leader Remy Audette is coming off a clean sweep at Watkins Glen one month ago, winning both races and extending his lead to 67 points over rookie Kyle Connery, who has two wins on the season to Audette’s three.

Kautz leads the points with two wins in four races
Tim Kautz and Bill Valet lead a highly competitive 29-car field to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this weekend for rounds five and six of the 2011 F1600 Formula F Championship Series. Both are coming off strong runs at Watkins Glen, where they each took a victory, with Kautz extending his points to lead to 21 over Valet heading into Ohio.
Following two consecutive abroad races – held at Zandvoort, Netherlands and Spielberg, Austria – the Formula 3 Euro Series now returns to Germany.
