In an attempt to increase his lead in the Championship
At the wheel of his Dimensions Doors / Novatech Van Diemen, Quebec driver Rémy Audette will contest the fifth and sixth rounds of the F2000 Championship Series this weekend at Watkins Glen in the state of New York. At the track where Formula 1 has been held twenty times in the past, Rémy will attempt to earn two more victories and remain in first place of the overall championship rankings.

Michael Schumacher has received the full backing of Mercedes’ top brass Dieter Zetsche.
Zetsche, the chairman of the German carmaker’s parent Daimler, was responding to renewed calls for 42-year-old Schumacher to return to retirement after disappointing performances since he returned to F1 last year.

Tony Fernandes has denied he will have to change the name of his formula one team.
Despite the Malaysian millionaire Fernandes retaining the rights to the Team Lotus name after a court battle with Group Lotus, F1 chief Bernie Ecclestone suggested the actual chassis might need to be called something else – perhaps Caterham – in 2012. Fernandes, however, denies this.

Checa leading overall championship standings
On the American Memorial Day holiday 48,00 enthusiastic fans were treated to a double win from a rider who was robbed of a double last year by simple bad luck, Carlos Checa (Althea Racing Ducati). The Spaniard, who entered this event as championship leader, had a dose of good luck this time as his two main rivals had difficult raceday experiences.

By making sure everything is properly organized, he gives himself a better chance to perform. Which can come in handy, especially when the conditions are tricky, as they were this weekend.

Patrick Carpentier will race in Kansas on June 5, also enters July’s Ride to Conquer Cancer with Team Komatsu
Patrick Carpentier will return to the NASCAR circuit next weekend driving Frank Stoddard Jr’s #32 Ford at Kansas Speedway. The Canadian driver, who now lives in Las Vegas, has confirmed that he will compete in his first NASCAR Sprint Cup race of the year on June 5 at the 1.5-mile (2.414 km) banked oval, round 13 of the 2011 schedule.

Victory at the Rocky Mountain Rally
Quebec driver Antoine L’Estage (of St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, QC) and his co-driver Nathalie Richard (of Halifax, NS) won this past weekend’s Rocky Mountain Rally, the second round of the 2011 Canadian Rally Championship amidst extreme weather conditions in the Kananaskis region of Alberta. This marks their fifth consecutive victory in the series, after having won the last three events in the 2010 season and the first round of 2011 earlier this year.

“I’m looking forward to being back in the car soon”
Sauber F1 Team driver Sergio Pérez was released from the Hospital Princesse Grace in Monaco today after he had undergone more examinations. Pérez had been taken to the hospital after a heavy crash in the final minutes of qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix on Saturday in which he had suffered concussion and a bruised thigh.
