Team Lotus confirms no KERS for 2011 car
The Team Lotus 2011 challenger T128 was launched on Monday 31st January exclusively in Team Lotus Notes. The special launch edition of the team’s magazine has a number of first-see images of the 2011 car and insights from key players within Team Lotus into the design and build process of the new car, including people from the Aero, R&D and Vehicle Dynamics, Design and Senior Management Teams.

Bruno Senna insists he is first in line to take the wheel if Renault’s regular race drivers run aground in 2011.
In the Valencia pitlane on Monday morning, the Lotus-sponsored team unveiled the R31 and also a plethora of drivers, including ‘third’ drivers Senna and Romain Grosjean and reserves Fairuz Fauzy, Ho-Pin Tung and Jan Charouz.

The Lotus naming dispute is simply about money, Renault team owner Gerard Lopez said on Monday.

FIA president Jean Todt has revealed a “great admiration” for Red Bull’s Dietrich Mateschitz.
Although with a relatively hands-off role personally, Austrian billionaire Mateschitz’s main F1 team secured the drivers’ and constructors’ titles last season, just six years after taking over struggling Jaguar.

Pirelli boss Marco Tronchetti Provera has dismissed claims the Italian tyre marque might favour Ferrari this year. With Ferrari naming its 2011 car F150 in tribute of Italian unification and painting a tri-colour on the rear wing, the national link between the Maranello marque and Milan-based Pirelli had raised some fears among Ferrari’s rivals.

Mercedes’ new state-of-the-art simulator is not expected to be up and running until next year.
Michael Schumacher insists he is not the only driver who suffers from motion sickness at the wheel of simulators. A major story broke last week suggesting that Schumacher’s limited time in Mercedes’ Brackley simulator could explain his struggle to keep up with Nico Rosberg after returning to F1.

Dyer demoted to factory-based role in 2011
Fernando Alonso has vowed to shave off his beard before the 2011 season begins officially in Bahrain. The Spaniard has been wearing a ‘three musketeers’-style goatee at Ferrari’s ‘Wrooom’ media event and also for the launch and track debut of the team’s new 2011 car.

The report said as many as six other teams will also use the Toyota facilities.
Two teams have recently utilised the facilities of the departed formula one team Toyota, it has emerged. The German-language Speed Week said Cologne based Toyota Motorsport GmbH, whose impressive facility including two wind tunnels is available for external parties to hire, has counted Williams and Toyota among its latest clients.

Returns to take race finish for second consecutive year
For the first three hours of the 2011 Rolex 24 At Daytona, the Turner Motorsport BMW M3 staked their claim as the team to beat. However, a rare type of gearbox failure forced the team to go back to the garage and effect repairs that took over four hours to complete.
Joining the field of nine other manufacturers set to compete in the 2011 F1000 Pro Series is Tapacat Racing Cars, headed by Hollywood screenwriter and former racer, Christopher Crowe.
