Day one of the Armor All Gold Coast 600 has gotten off to a cracking start on the streets of the Gold Coast, with 50,980 fans coming through the gates for the party the Gold Coast has to have.While the racing has concluded for the day with Ford Performance Racing, the Bottle-O Racing Team and Jim Beam Racing posting the three quickest times for the combined sessions, the action for Friday is nowhere near over with Southport’s Broadwater Parklands about to fire up for the first night of 600 Sounds presented by Hard Rock.

The FIA has reacted swiftly to drivers’ concerns about the pit entry in Korea. Numerous drivers on Friday warned that the fact the entry to the new Yeongam circuit’s pitlane is on the racing line in a fast corner is a safety issue.

New F1 circuits look unlikely to be able to emulate Korea, whose delayed Yeongam venue was given an eleventh-hour reprieve by the FIA. Usually, the governing body inspects a new track 90 days before the inaugural race date, giving either a thumbs-up or down.

Kyle Hamilton signed by Nine Racing

2009 USAC National Pavement Ford Focus Champion and 2009 USAC Regional Midget Champion Kyle Hamilton has been signed by Nine Racing to drive the #9 midget in the prestigious 70th running of the Turkey Night Grand Prix at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale, on Thursday, November 25, as the Nine Racing team returns to an active role in USAC Regional and National events.

IndyCar star Alex Tagliani has performed well during practice for the Armor All Gold Coast 600 at the Surfers Paradise street circuit in Queensland today. Tagliani, who has previously finished on the podium in Champ Car competition on the Gold Coast, was pleased with his progress aboard the #11 Rock Racing Commodore during today’s four practice sessions.

Strawberry Racing bowed out from this year’s Formula Kart Stars championship on a high after George Russell and Jack Barlow dominated the penultimate round at Ellough last weekend (16/17 October). Russell completed his mastery of the Mini Max class with a faultless display at the East Anglian venue, having already won the Super 1 and Kart Masters titles. The team’s sole representative in the category sought to complete the historic treble at the Suffolk track.
