Rémy 7th in F1600
Brothers Mathieu and Rémy Audette were competing in two categories this weekend at the Grand Prix de Mirabel at the ICAR Complex. In the Canadian Touring Car Championship, Mathieu Audette earned himself another podium, maintaining his chances in a bid for the championship title while in Formula Tour 1600, Rémy Audette’s return had its share of ups and downs. He eventually finished in seventh place.

Alex Tagliani finishes 17th at Watkins Glen
Making his first race start from 19th position on the grid at the famed Watkins Glen International road course, FAZZT Race Team driver Alex Tagliani could not do much to improve his position during the race. Fuel strategy was the key in today’s race. The team brought Alex in for his first stop on lap 5 in the hopes that an alternate strategy would play in their favor.

Double Victory for Nick Wittmer at Mirabel !
The Lombardi Honda Racing Team had double the pleasure during this past weekend’s Grand Prix de Mirabel as their driver Nick Wittmer, defending Canadian Touring Car champion, won both races on the program. This victory enables the Montreal driver and his team to increase the gap in the lead of the championship. In the other two Lombardi Honda Racing Honda Civic Si’s, Nigel Heron and Benjamin Distaulo each earned a “Top 5″ and a “Top 6″ respectively.

A wild start saw 30 cars get through turn one cleanly
Daniel Erickson took his second win of the season and second win in two days by just a car length in another exciting race at Watkins Glen in round eight of the F2000 Championship Series season. The Australian rookie, driving for Quantum Mechanics/Primus Racing, led from pole to take the checkered flag with a close-margin win over championship points leader Victor Carbone, who nearly got by Erickson in an epic battle in the closing laps, with 2007 F2000 title winner Cole Morgan rounding off the podium.

Dietrich Mateschitz has rubbished reports a rebuilt A1-Ring circuit could see formula one return to Austria.
Formerly known as the Osterreichring, the central Austrian venue dropped off the calendar in 2003 and was demolished. But supported by Red Bull mogul Mateschitz, EUR 70 million reconstruction works began late in 2008, including new pit buildings and grandstands.

After his seventh podium finish of the season, Mortara remains the points’ leader.
After two victories in the Masters of Formula 3, Valtteri Bottas (ART Grand Prix) finally has scored his maiden race win in the Formula 3 Euro Series at the 2.3 kilometres long Norisring. The Finn, who was the best-placed rookie in last year’s standings, was accompanied on the podium by Marco Wittmann (Signature) and Edoardo Mortara (Signature).

The fastest lap of the race (1:32.281) was turned in by Mathieu Audette in his Acura RSX
Temperatures in the low 30s provided a challenge for car and driver alike in race one at the Grand Prix de Mirabel. Drivers practiced and qualified earlier in the day in more comfortable conditions but needed to dig deep to survive the high heat of the afternoon.

The Série ACT Castrol Edge heads to Autodrome St-Felicien next Saturday

St-Felicien’s Karl Allard earns his third straight Série ACT Castrol Edge event in the Montmagny 250 at Autdrome Montmagny on Saturday, July 3. Allard came from the thirteenth starting position and took the lead on lap 64. He would lead the remainder of the 250 lap event. Sylvain Lacombe took second while Jonathan Urlin earned third.
