Andrew Ranger was hoping for a positive result in New-Hampshire but a race incident took him out near the end of the race. Bold move on late restart gives rookie second East win. Darrell Wallace Jr. made a three-wide pass for the lead with two laps to go and held on for the victory Friday in the K&N Pro Series 125 at Lee USA Speedway.

After the team orders controversy, F1 teams have moved on to a bigger problem: Red Bull’s overwhelming pace. Ferrari looked to have closed the gap with one-two victory at Hockenheim, but on Saturday Sebastian Vettel’s 1.2 second advantage over the first non-Red Bull was described in Hungary by Mercedes reserve driver Nick Heidfeld as “frightening”.

Red Bull’s dominance had seldom looked stronger than on Saturday in Hungary, with the two RB6s easily locking out the front row of the grid. “The track suits the car well, with not many straights and lots of corners which is perfect for us,” team boss Christian Horner told the BBC.

Ferrari removes F-duct for rest of weekend

Ferrari has joined Red Bull in opting to remove the F-duct from its car in Hungary. Red Bull was the first to deduce that the efficiency of its conventional rear wing layout was better at the tight and twisty track, where the only significant straight is located opposite the pitlane.

Berger not eyeing return to F1 paddock
Gerhard Berger has admitted he is not currently interested in returning full-time to the formula one paddock.
After retiring in 1997, the ten-time grand prix winner returned to F1 as BMW’s joint boss until 2003, and three years later bought half of Toro Rosso. The 50-year-old Austrian sold his share back to Red Bull’s Dietrich Mateschitz in 2008, and told the Salzburger Nachrichten newspaper on Saturday that he has no regrets.

McLaren struggling to match rivals in Hungary
The Hungarian grand prix looks set to be a fight between Red Bull and Ferrari.
Championship leaders McLaren were more than a second off the pace during Friday practice at the twisty Hungaroring. “We’re losing quite a bit of time in the middle sector, and a couple of tenths in the first and third sectors, too,” admitted Lewis Hamilton.

Force India remove blown diffuser after Hungary test
Force India has decided against running its new blown diffuser in qualifying and the race in Hungary.
The Silverstone based team tested the concept in Friday practice on Adrian Sutil’s car, which was faster in both sessions than the non-blown diffuser sister car shared by Paul di Resta and Tonio Liuzzi.

Crutchlow races ahead in early session. Local hero Cal Crutchlow (Yamaha Sterilgarda) set a blistering 2’05.664 second lap at Silverstone to head the first qualifying session at his home track, with no fewer than five of his compatriots inside the top ten places. The 5.902km Silverstone circuit is new to almost all of the 25 Superbike riders on show, making Crutchlow’s advantage of 0.342 seconds over the Hannspree Ten Kate Honda of Jonathan Rea an impressive first day result.

Hayward claims First ACT Tour win at Twin State (+results)
Hayward is now the ninth ACT competitor to earn himself an invite to the second annual ACT Invitational
Newport, NH’s Mark Hayward earned his first career ACT Late Model Tour win at Twin State Speedway in Claremont, NH on Friday, July 30. Hayward took the lead from Twin State regular Aaron Fellows, who led the first 52 laps of the 100 lap event. Hayward held off the likes of Ben Rowe, current ACT Tour point leader Brian Hoar and Randy Potter over the remaining 48 laps to take the win.

Nicola De Marco claimed his first F2 victory in today’s opening race at Brno, the Italian jumping polesitter Dean Stoneman at the start and looking assured throughout the 20 lap contest. 
The fight for the title in the American Le Mans Series is heating up. And Porsche stands on pole position: In the fiercely-contested GT class, Porsche works drivers Joerg Bergmeister (Germany) and Patrick Long (USA) snatched back the points’ lead with their Flying Lizard Motorsports 911 GT3 RSR against strong opposition from BMW and Ferrari.
