Four-time defending champ wins second consecutive
In what was billed as a race full of potential payback after last week’s shootout at Sonoma, revenge had to wait until the final three laps of Sunday’s Lenox Industrial Tools 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. That’s when Jimmie Johnson gave Kurt Busch’s No. 2 Dodge a race-winning retaliatory nudge as the drivers raced into Turn 3 on Lap 299.






Markus Ericsson made light work of his maiden GP2 victory in this morning’s sprint race, dominating from lights to flag to lead home Giedo van der Garde and Michael Herck. The win was set up at the start, when poleman Herck made a good start but the Swede’s was even better, outsprinting his rival to turn one and a lead that he never relinquished. 

Nine drivers were summoned to the FIA officials in Valencia, accused of driving too quickly under safety car conditions. Less than three hours after the chequered flag, all of them were found guilty and handed 5 second time penalties.
Whilst being checked by doctors in Valencia’s medical centre on Sunday, Mark Webber and Heikki Kovalainen shook hands. Webber’s Red Bull had backflipped spectacularly at full speed after hitting the back of Kovalainen’s slower Lotus, before ploughing headfirst into a tyre barrier.

Ahead of its debut race in 2008, it is believed a seven-year contract was signed. But the venue has met with criticism, including a 5.4 kilometre layout that has hosted processional races, and a lack of atmosphere due to the absence of many boats in the marina.

There were mixed results for AIM Autosport’s Formula Mazda drivers this afternoon as they competed in the first of two races at New Jersey Motorsports Park. After a morning qualifying session, round 8 of the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear started at 3:00pm. A total of 29 laps were run during the 45-minute timed race.
