Four-time defending champ wins second consecutive
In what was billed as a race full of potential payback after last week’s shootout at Sonoma, revenge had to wait until the final three laps of Sunday’s Lenox Industrial Tools 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. That’s when Jimmie Johnson gave Kurt Busch’s No. 2 Dodge a race-winning retaliatory nudge as the drivers raced into Turn 3 on Lap 299.

Sherbrooke’s Francis Martin finished second
Jordan Szoke completed a perfect weekend at Calgary’s Race City Motorsport Park with victory in Sunday’s third round of the Parts Canada Superbike Championship, presented by Rocky Mountain Honda Powerhouse. The Brantford, Ont. racer took the lead on the opening lap and was unchallenged the rest of the way to score his second victory in two days on the Waznie Racing / BMC Cicloe Werks / DeWildt Honda Powerhouse Honda CBR1000RR, and his third straight to open the 2010 season.

Swede claims first victory of his season
Markus Ericsson made light work of his maiden GP2 victory in this morning’s sprint race, dominating from lights to flag to lead home Giedo van der Garde and Michael Herck. The win was set up at the start, when poleman Herck made a good start but the Swede’s was even better, outsprinting his rival to turn one and a lead that he never relinquished.

Second win in two Auto GP weekend for Carlos Iaconelli.
After winning Imola’s second race, the Brazilian driver did the same in Spa clinching success in Race 2. Starting from pole position thanks to his eight place in Race 1, Iaconelli had a goos start and kept the lead for the whole race, despite two Safety-Car periods that packed the group again. The Durango driver kept cold blood and managed the situation in the best possible way, even resisting to a huge pressure from Romain Grosjean in the last laps.

The results of Sunday’s European grand prix are largely unchanged after a post-race stewards enquiry.
Nine drivers were summoned to the FIA officials in Valencia, accused of driving too quickly under safety car conditions. Less than three hours after the chequered flag, all of them were found guilty and handed 5 second time penalties.

He was slightly critical of Kovalainen’s “aggressive” driving
Whilst being checked by doctors in Valencia’s medical centre on Sunday, Mark Webber and Heikki Kovalainen shook hands. Webber’s Red Bull had backflipped spectacularly at full speed after hitting the back of Kovalainen’s slower Lotus, before ploughing headfirst into a tyre barrier.

Pierre Campana further underlined his status as one of Europe’s most promising young drivers by moving to the top of the Clio R3 European Trophy and IRC 2WD Cup standings with a hugely impressive showing on the Geko Ypres Rally, which finished in Belgium yesterday (Saturday June 26).

Ho-Pin Tung is set to make his grand prix weekend debut at the wheel of a Renault.
Last week, the World Motor Sport Council approved a “four-race probationary super license” for the Dutch-born Chinese. He currently races in GP2, but due to his management links to Renault’s new owners, he had been in the running for a seat with the Enstone based team in 2010.

The Valencia street circuit is now a “home” for formula one, according to F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone.
Ahead of its debut race in 2008, it is believed a seven-year contract was signed. But the venue has met with criticism, including a 5.4 kilometre layout that has hosted processional races, and a lack of atmosphere due to the absence of many boats in the marina.

René Rast is the half-time champion of the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup. With his Al Faisal Lechner Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, he celebrated his fourth win of the season on the street circuit of Valencia/Spain and extended his points’ lead. For the reigning vice-champion, this marks the tenth win of his career in the world’s fastest international brand trophy series.

Pegram learns while Ostella is hit and charging Bowlin spins
There were mixed results for AIM Autosport’s Formula Mazda drivers this afternoon as they competed in the first of two races at New Jersey Motorsports Park. After a morning qualifying session, round 8 of the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear started at 3:00pm. A total of 29 laps were run during the 45-minute timed race.

Star Mazda Championship officials apologized to Conor Daly this morning for making an incorrect call regarding his penalty in the race at New Jersey Motorsports Park yesterday afternoon.
