Moffitt back in K&N East victory lane in rain shortened race

Brett Moffitt finally has the trophy to go with the fast car. It just happens to be one of the most sought after prizes in NASCAR race: A Grandfather Clock from Martinsville Speedway. Moffitt was out front when rain shortened the UNOH Performance 200 to 174 laps Sunday afternoon, giving the 17-year-old Joe Gibbs Racing Development Driver from Grimes, Iowa, his third career NASCAR K&N Pro Series East win.







Juho Hanninen has strengthened his grip on the Intercontinental Rally Challenge drivers’ title with his second victory of the season on Rally d’Italia-Sardegna today (Sunday). Driving a factory Skoda Motorsport-run Fabia, the Finn took a slender lead on the rally’s ninth stage and pulled clear when Kris Meeke, his closest pursuer, crashed heavily on stage 10. The accident was captured live on Eurosport, which covered four stages of the sun-coated gravel event as they happened.
Rusty Mitchell has signed with Juncos Racing for the remainder of the 2010 Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear season. A current competitor in the 2010 Star Mazda Championship, this year marks Mitchell’s second full season and third year of experience in a Formula Mazda. The Midlands, Texas native will make his debut as a Juncos Racing driver at the Pizza Ranch 100 event at Iowa Speedway June 18-19.

Opting for Bridgestone’s hard compound slicks front and rear, Dani Pedrosa took victory for the Repsol Honda Team at Mugello in decisive style, setting a new lap record on only the fifth lap of the race and consistently lapping faster than the existing lap record. The Spaniard was the only rider to lap in the 1m 49second bracket. 

Emanuele Pirro has the most extraordinary record at Le Mans. Until 1999, when the Audi era at Le Mans began, the 49-year-old Roman had competed just twice at La Sarthe, as a 19 year old in 1981 with a Lancia Beta Monte Carlo and 16 years later with a McLaren F1 GTR. Both races ended in retirement but in the 11 years since he finished third in the Audi R8R, Emanauele has five winners trophies and three more for podium finishes.
Charles Espenlaub and Charles Putman recovered from a first-lap spin in Saturday’s Continental Tire 150, the sixth round of the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge season, to win the Grand Sport (GS) race and give Fall-Line Motorsports its first series victory. 
Five days after a three-race GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series winning streak ended in a first-lap crash, Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas turned in a solid performance and started a new streak Saturday in the No. 01 TELMEX BMW Riley by scoring their third consecutive victory in the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen.
