Dakar: “Scrutineering” – Day 3
Party at the Village
This year more than ever, the Dakar is also a huge popular celebration. The masses who have come to admire the machines and their drivers/riders at scrutineering also had the opportunity of taking a stroll around the Dakar Village, where sponsors have been organizing many events.
Peter Sauber, the formerly BMW-owned team’s boss and founder, wrote on his Twitter page: “Second driver to be announced next week. The team is ready to work. Happy New Year.”

Mercedes launch date leaked, late Schumacher debut?
F1 legend Michael Schumacher will not drive the car during the first round of 2010 tests at Valencia
German newspaper Bild has reported that, following the collapse of the common launch concept, the official unveiling of the new Mercedes Grand Prix car will take place at the Mercedes-Benz museum in Unterturkheim in late January.

Miller, Ludwig and Roush will share driving duty in the No. 48 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car
Miller Barrett Racing will start its first full season of GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series racing with a strong driver lineup for the Rolex 24 At Daytona in January. Bryce Miller of Summit, N.J., will lead the charge, joined by two of his 2009 teammates – Peter Ludwig of New Paltz, N.Y., and Kevin Roush of Upland, Calif. Luke Hines of Sedge Green, Essex, U.K., will complete the foursome.
Robby Gordon is determined to compete for the overall victory in his sixth appearance in the endurance race. 
A plethora of new cars competing during the 2010 GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge are entered the January Test Days, which heightens an already action-packed and strong field of cars that carried over from the 2009 campaign. Dec 30

A Spanish motor racing website has admitted its exclusive story about Nelson Piquet signing for the new Campos team was a hoax
