Ben Spies (Yamaha World Superbike) won the first race and then controlled the situation in race 2 to take his and Yamaha’s first ever World Superbike Championship title in front of an 86,000 crowd in the final round of the series at Portimao.

Jean Karl Vernay (Signature) decided the finale of the Formula 3 Euro Series at the 4.574 kilometres long Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg in his favour. In an exciting race, he overtook erstwhile leader Christopher Zanella (Motopark Academy) on the final lap.

The new world champion’s manager Richard Goddard has revealed. The 29-year-old Briton is said to be unwilling to take the number 1 to the team’s 2010 car in the absence of a substantial pay increase, having agreed to slash his retainer amid the management buyout last winter.

The second of the two days testing prior to the inaugural race weekend at the newly born ccircuit resumed on Saturday under bright sunshine for the 25 cars present. Like yesterday in the first test session, driver Luca Filippi set the fastest time of the day, setting his time in the afternoon session while team mate Diego Nunes finished both sessions in fifth place.

Valentino Rossi has won his seventh MotoGP title, one round early, by finishing third in a wet and wild Malaysian Grand Prix dominated by Casey Stoner.
Frenchman Sebastien Loeb cruised through the final stage of the Rally of Great Britain today to take victory in his Citroen Total team C4 WRC and wrap up a remarkable sixth World Rally Championship title.
