SOS Children’s Villages, the world’s largest charity dedicated to providing homes to orphaned, abandoned and foster children, will be back as the official charity of Formula Race Promotions in 2012, supporting the F2000 Championship Series, F1600 Formula F Championship Series, and new Atlantic Championship.

The new Atlantic Championship Series, operated by Formula Race Promotions, has appointed Joe Griffin as technical director.
Griffin brings years of Atlantic car experience to the Series, having been involved with the class going back to the Formula B days, and working for a former version of the Series from 1983 to 2006.

Greg Rickes has joined Formula Race Promotions
The long time voice of Lime Rock Park, Greg Rickes, has joined the 2012 Formula Race Promotions-operated Atlantic Championship Series, F2000 Championship Series and F1600 Formula F Championship Series as the official traveling play-by-play public address announcer and victory podium MC.

Formula Race Promotions has announced the formation of the Atlantic Championship Series for SCCA-legal Formula Atlantic race cars. The Series will be run in conjunction with the highly successful F2000 Championship Series and F1600 Formula F Championship Series, sanctioned by SCCA Pro Racing.

Series Officials announced a significant price reduction for competitors in the 2010 Cooper Tires Presents the Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda. This price reduction is part of a new movement by the Atlantic Championship to help aspiring drivers onto the “Road to F1”.

By moving the test to March, the teams can do the test and the race at Sebring in one trip.
Officials from the Cooper Tires Presents The Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda announced today that series-sanctioned preseason testing has been rescheduled from January 22-24 at Sebring International Raceway to early March at a venue to be determined.

After a history-making 2009 Atlantic Championship season in which she became the winningest woman in series history, Simona De Silvestro had a successful two-day test in an HVM Racing/Team Stargate Worlds IndyCar at Sebring International Raceway last week with an eye toward a possible run in the 2010 IZOD IndyCar Series. “She was very impressive,” said HVM Racing owner Keith Wiggins.
