Formula V8 3.5: Matevos Isaakyan (SMP Racing by AVF) scored his first pole position in season at Bahrain

World Series Formula V8 3.5 – Matevos Isaakyan (SMP Racing by AVF) cruises to race 1 pole

The Russian cruised to top late in the session with a lap of 1:44.727, in a perfect start of an intense day which will also include qualifying 2 and race 1. In order to keep his hopes for the World Series Formula V8 3.5 title alive, Matevos must finish in front of Pietro Fittipaldi (Lotus) in race 1.

The Brazilian is the current championship leader and will start fourth on the grid. He finished the session second, but fastest lap time was cancelled due track limits in turn 4.

Front row for Henrique Chaves (AVF), the best rookie on the grid, ahead Lotus due with Rene Binder (Lotus) ahead Fittipaldi. Other debutant in the RPM-MKTG series Tatiana Calderon (RP Motorsport) impressed too as she rounded out the top 5. The session took place without interruptions and with outstanding sunny conditions which led to an air and track temperature of 26° C. Best time was cancelled as well to Diego Menchaca (Fortec Motorsports), set to start from 8th place.
