Tiago Monteiro to miss Japanese WTCC

As his recovery continues

Tiago Monteiro excited about opening round of 2016 WTCCTiago Monteiro will not participate in the next round of the FIA World Touring Car Championship in Japan this weekend.

Although the Portuguese driver’s health is improving more and more each day, his medical team has decided once again that it is better for Tiago to stay in Portugal and continue to recover from the issues  caused by his testing accident in early September.

Although he knows that his physical condition is not yet at its optimum, this decision was difficult for Tiago to accept. “It is normal to be disappointed, but I cannot take risks with my physical health. Despite all my efforts and treatments, which are helping my body to heal very well, it still needs a little more time to get back to normal,” the Castrol Honda WTCC driver said.

In fact, the possibility of winning the world title he had hoped for in 2017 is slowly slipping away. “Although this is a difficult reality to accept, I cannot do anything but look ahead and prepare myself for a return to competition, which I hope will be soon,” he said.

The Japanese round of the WTCC, at Honda’s home circuit takes place this coming weekend, October 28th/ 29th.
