Hamilton quickest as just five cars post times in rain-hit Suzuka FP2

Lewis Hamilton leads from Esteban Ocon and Sergio Perez in a rain-hit FP2 that saw just five drivers post a lap time

Lewis Hamilton finished quickest in a largely washed out second Formula 1 practice session for the Japanese Grand Prix on Friday at Suzuka as just five cars took to the track to post lap times.

Heavy rain between FP1 and the planned start of running in the afternoon led to FP2 being postponed indefinitely, with a break in the weather allowing the session to get underway after 45 minutes of waiting.

The track did not get much drier, though, retaining much of its standing water, prompting the majority of the field to complete only a couple of installation laps at the most.
