Successful weekend for the DTM drivers

The DTM drivers just can’t do without motor racing

On the weekends they haven’t to contest DTM races they often enjoy themselves in other motor-sport events – and do so successfully.

DTM championship leader Mattias Ekström and his fellow Audi driver Nico Müller contested the World Rallycross Championship meeting held last weekend. And although Ekström finished second the weekend in Riga, Latvia, was somewhat disappointing for the Swede as his compatriot Johan Kristoffersson secured the title early, with his Volkswagen Polo what meant that Ekström failed to defend the title he had won in 2016.

Nonetheless, Ekström left Riga in a positive mood. “Despite the changeable conditions it was a really good weekend for us,” said Ekström. “For the first time we had four cars in the semi finals – and I finished second. I’m particularly happy for Nico who made it to the final in his only second WRX appearance.” And Müller beamed: “Being a finalist together with Mattias was just great. A big thank you for the support of the entire team.”
