First podium finish for Dussault in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada

Honda Indy Toronto

2017-06-10_2062Patrick Dussault claimed his first podium finish in the Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada, this weekend, in the streets of Toronto as part of the Honda Indy event. The driver of the Lauzon Autosport/Vincent & Dussault Construction Porsche GT3 Cup overcame a difficult start to finish in third place on Saturday’s race.

Dussault’s Porsche GT3 Cup has been fast all weekend, on this bumpy and narrow street course. He qualified in fifth place, and was hoping to gain some spots for the 45-minute race. In the first laps, Dussault slightly hit the wall trying to gain some time, and severely damaged the direction of his car. In this incident, he lost a few positions, and managed to climb back into the pack.

“When I figured out that my direction was wrong, I thought that all I could do was trying to stay on track and keep my position. As the race went on, my car was still quicker than some of the drivers in front of me, so I fought to gain back some places,” Dussault explained.

He climbed to the third spot, and was able to secure a podium finish, even after a late restart. He was also awarded the Hard Charger award. Dussault was happy of this strong finish, after an eventful race. “After a difficult start, it feels good to be back on the podium, my first one since I came back from England. We have pulled a great team effort to achieve this in the Lauzon Autosport/Vincent & Dussault Construction n° 77 car,” he stated.

On Sunday’s race, Patrick Dussault found himself again at the wheel of a very fast race car. Fourth on the starting grid, on the outside lane, he had to concede a spot at the start, but manage to take it back in no time. He finished in fourth place, just a step away from a podium finish.

“I put pressure and I waited for the right moment to pass. Overall, it has been a good weekend for us. GT Racing team did a great job preparing the Lauzon Autosport/Vincent&Dussault Construction Porsche GT3 Cup. It looks good for the rest of the season,” concluded Dussault.

Patrick Dussault and the Lauzon Autosport/Vincent & Dussault Construction n°77 car will be back in action in less than a month, at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières on August 11-13, in the Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada presented by Yokohama.
