MP Motorsport fights in 2017 on three fronts

2017 is a busy year for MP Motorsport

MP Motorsport Formula 2 Sergio Sette CamaraThe greatest Formula team of Netherlands is next season on three fronts active: Formula 2, Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 and Formula 4. In all three categories MP has the potential to score highly, as became clear at the team presentation. Which took place on March 9 at the home of MP in Westmaas.

“With Jordan and Sergio we have a strong duo in Formula 2,” Dorsman says. “Together we can build on the beautiful season of last year. Jordan began his career in 2011 with us, so we really welcome him home. Sergio made a splash last year in the Grand Prix of Macau, the crown jewel of the Formula 3. He is ready for the step up to Formula 2, where he can learn a lot from Jordan. At the same time he could ever immediately surprised with his speed. ”

Even kept the team in 2016 modestly warm in VdV Championship in France, it hit the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 over a year. In 2017 MP is completely back to the highest level in Formula Renault, in a renewed Eurocup that serves many F1 circuits this year. “It is unique that we go into Formula Renault 2.0 season with three drivers who are junior in a Formula 1 team,” Dorsman says proudly. “Such a strong line-up we have never had in my eyes. Richard Verschoor and Neil Verhagen backed by Red Bull, Renault’s Jarno Opmeer junior. Of course, they all three debut in Formula Renault, they have to deal with strong opposition from drivers with more experience. Still, I think they are so talented that they will most drive right up front. ”

Formula 4: Christian Lundsgaard, Bent Viscaal Luke Thinner and Tristan Charpentier want to repeat success of 2016
Last year, MP surprised friend and foe by in his first year of Formula 4 immediately dominate the northern European and French F4 Championship. MP took the step in cooperation with the KNAF for young Dutch talent mapping to offer an affordable step up to formula cars. Richard Verschoor and Jarno Opmeer immediately demonstrated the great value of this partnership: they finished 1-2 in the NEZ and were both included in an F1 junior program. Christian Lundsgaard, Bent Viscaal Luke Thinner and Tristan Charpentier hope this year to repeat that brilliant success.

“With Christian, Bent, Luke and Tristan we have recruited four talented and motivated boys F4 for our program,” says Dorsman. “Are supported by KNAF, Christian, Luke and Tristan are also keen. Also in 2017 we go for the nice win series we could celebrate with Richard and Jarno last year. ”

At the same time KNAF presented the drivers that they support this year through its training programs. The KNAF Talent First program will benefit in 2017 four drivers: Richard Verschoor, Jarno Opmeer, Jim van den Heuvel and Rinus van Kalmthout. The latter comes this season under the name Rinus Veekay in action in the American USF2000 championship. There he comes out for the leading team of Pabst. In 2013, MP Motorsport was recently on three fronts at once: GP2, Auto GP and Formula Renault 2.0 (Eurocup and NEC). The F2 season will start on 15-16 April at the Sakhir circuit in Bahrain. The Eurocup season starts a week later at Monza, while the NEZ SMP F4 starts during the GP of Russia in Sochi late April.
