DTM drivers prepare for the Nürburgring 24h Race

DTM ambience in the qualifying race for the Nürburgring 24h Race

With Maximilian Götz (Mercedes-Benz), Martin Tomczyk (BMW), Christian Vietoris (Mercedes-Benz) and reigning Champion Marco Wittmann (BMW), quite a number of drivers usually racing in the most popular international touring-car series also will be involved in this weekend’s endurance-race action at the ‘Green Hell’.

The event serves as preparation for the endurance-race classic held in the Eifel region from 14th to 17th May.

For his guest appearance for the Haribo Racing Team, Götz will be reunited with an SLS AMG GT3. In the past four years, prior to his signing as DTM driver, the 29-year old successfully raced one of the gull-wing vehicles in different series. For Vietoris, it will be the first involvement in the qualifying race at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The German contests his home race at the wheel of an SLS AMG GT3 entered by Team Zakspeed, while Wittmann and Tomczyk will race a BMW Z4 GT3 for BMW Sports Trophy Team Schubert.

And right after the six-hour qualifying race on Sunday, the DTM drivers will have to travel to Oschersleben for the second official DTM tests, held from Monday to Thursday in the Magdeburger Börde region. The DTM enthusiasts also may look forward to these tests as they can witness the action on all the four days of testing live. Both the paddock and the grandstand will be open for visitors throughout the tests. And those at home will be provided with the latest lap times – just as it was the case at Estoril – via the live timing.
