Antoine L’Estage eyeing another win at the Rocky Mountain Rally

Strengthened Partnership with Yokohama…

2014-09-06_6680 Quebec driver Antoine L’Estage (of St-Jean-sur-Richelieu) and his Torontonian co-driver Alan Ockwell, will participate in this weekend’s Rocky Mountain Rally, in Invermere, British Columbia.

After clinching the title earlier this month, this second last round of the 2014 Canadian Rally Championship season will be a particularly pressure-free event for Antoine L’Estage. The goal will nevertheless be to win, with the support of Yokohama.

Winner of all the championship’s rallies since the start of the season, Antoine L’Estage’s limited budget made the end of the season an uncertainty, even after having securing a record seventh Canadian title. « Yokohama Tire Canada decided to associate themselves with our title by increasing their support of the Yokohama Rally Team » explains Antoine, who adds :  « That was the last push we needed to allow us to announce that we will contest the last two rounds of the season in the best possible conditions ».

Antoine L’Estage and Alan Ockwell will therefore be at the Friday start of the Rocky Mountain Rally. An event that the Canadian champion won last year in difficult conditions (co-driven by Welshman Craig Parry). « It had snowed, the roads were tricky, and it was extremely difficult. This year, the weather report is leading us to believe that the roads will be dry, without any snow or ice.  We’ll see, but we’ll be ready for anything » confides Antoine.

The Yokohama Rally Team’s Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X stayed out west after the Pacific Forest Rally at the beginning of the month.  After a minor re-prep, it’s ready for the Rocky Mountain Rally. « We’ll take to the start without any pressure, we want to have fun but we obviously also want to win » indicates Antoine L’Estage, who should be guaranteed the North American driver’s title, also for the seventh time, by crossing the start line on Friday at 11:30am.  The finish will take place around 6pm Saturday.

Antoine L’Estage currently holds six North American titles (2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013), seven Canadian (2006, 2007, 2010 to 2014), one American (2010) and forty-six overall victories in Canada and the United States.

He is contesting the 2014 Canadian Rally Championship with the support of Yokohama Tires,  Drenth Motorsport Gearboxes, Énergie Cardio, Method Race Wheels, VP Racing Fuels, Alpinestars, Exe-Tc Suspensions, Driver’s Edge Autosport, and Libra Racing.
