Zacharie Robichon of the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship
Robichon leads not only the Rookie of the Year but also the overall Championship of the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship. The Ottawa native will join Scott Hargrove as a very solid one two punch at the historic event held in October. Robichon in his 3rd year at The University of Ottawa is enjoying a very successful first season of openwheel racing. He was a member of Team Canada at the World Karting Championships last fall in Portugal competing in DD2.
“It is never easy to make a final decision as we had such a great line up of drivers to choose from. In the end we have what we believe is an outstanding line up to bring to the FF Festival. As our first trip with two drivers we are very excited to get going. Scott and Zacharie have worked before together and the chemistry between them was superb. Zacharie is improving with every outing and we are looking forward to the opportunity he now has to showcase his abilities to a much wider audience.” comments Team Canada founder Brian Graham.
The two youngsters will once be running under the experienced eye of Cliff Dempsey of CDR. “We are very fortunate to be working with Cliff and his knowledgeable team as they really have been great to work with and give us all the tools do the best we can.” adds Graham. “We felt right at home on our first day with Cliff and Michelle and look forward to being part of the team again.”
With the team now complete the preparations kick into high gear. The sponsors and supporters list continues to grow and they are the backbone of the Scholarship. Both Scott and Zacharie lead their respective championships but both have a long way to go before it is over. Scott is well positioned to claim the USF2000 title but cannot relax at all as his competitors are keeping the pressure on. Zacharie is in a very tight fight for the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship which will likely go down to the wire as last year’s title did.
The Scholarship exists completely on support from Team Canada Scholarship sponsors and donations to the program.
