In preparation of official technical inspection held Friday morning prior to this weekend’s running of the Baja Aragon off road race.
The race will start late Friday afternoon for a short prologue, and will continue on Saturday and Sunday. Racer will cover over 1000 km, with more than 700 timed and run at full speed.
The participation by ALDO Racing in this race is part of an extensive preparation program for the Dakar race, a 14-day event run in the desert in Argentina and Chile this coming January. The team’s technical personnel is now in Teruel (Northern Spain) to take part in the Baja Aragon and validate all components and settings on this new race car.
The team has already tested over 7 day in the Moroccan desert this past May, and is planning more testing or racing in Africa in September, based on results here in Spain. In any event, the car must be at Le Havre (France) in early December, to leave by ship for the race start in Argentina.
The five specialists from Rally Raid and the three technicians from ALDO Racing based in Canada are alternating quick runs with inspection and adjustments to optimize car performance and reliability.
Testing so far has demonstrated the amazing efficiency of the new suspension components and settings, as developed by Rally Raid UK. The cars are smooth over bumps, and traction under braking, cornering and hard acceleration is on a par with the best teams. The car also remains easy to drive and almost comfortable, thus reducing driver and co-driver fatigue, and improving concentration. We are now ready for the race tomorrow!
