“iZone is a fantastic facility” – Razia
2012 GP2 Series Vice- champion, Luiz Razia, has joined iZone Driver Performance Centre’s roster of driver training coaches and will be sharing his years of race driving experience with current and future racing stars, helping them to achieve their potential and improve their skills.
John Pratt, iZone’s Founder, says of securing Razia’s coaching services, “We are delighted to welcome Luiz to the iZone team of trainers. I know that he will be a great asset to us, bringing his extensive knowledge of all the top race tracks and a real understanding of the level of training which drivers need for success, not only from a physical perspective but also the mental approach and mind development which is so essential for them.”
The Brazilian racing driver may only be 24 years old, but he has a career which started over ten years ago in Autocross. After being crowned Brazilian Kart champion in 2004 he went on to single seaters, winning the national F3 series at the age of 17, success which led to a move into European racing.
Two years of Italian F3 and Euro F3 Razia preceded his time in GP2, a series recognised as the final step before Formula 1. The young racing driver had hoped to be racing in F1 this season, after testing with three F1 teams, and it was only sponsor budget commitments which hindered his ambitions of racing at the highest level.
Razia is looking forward to his new role at iZone, explaining, “I’m taking time out from racing at the moment, although I’m still committed to driving in F1, so the opportunity to work with John and his team, developing young drivers and helping them to realise their potential, will be a great way for me to keep myself focused while also benefiting the next generation of racing talent.
“iZone is a fantastic facility,” adds Razia, “and is the perfect environment for young drivers to complement their on-track activities, with the opportunity to prepare for race weekends, improve their skills and expand their learning through the extensive range of coaching resources which the team has to offer.”
iZone Driver Performance Centre was founded by triple World Touring Car Champion, Andy Priaulx and John Pratt, seven times Formula Ford champion and long-time coach to Priaulx. Based at the home of British motorsport, Silverstone circuit, iZone is a multidisciplinary facility for both car and kart drivers of all ages and abilities. The experienced coaching staff focus on a driver’s personal performance with the aim of making them ‘the Best they can Be’, through skills development, simulator training, psychometric analysis, mental and physical conditioning, media training and a range of performance development techniques that can be practiced away from the race track.
Bookings for training sessions with Luiz Razia are now being taken. Interested drivers should call iZone Driver Performance on 01327 856872.
