Sixteen-year-old Cameron Hayley of Calgary Ab, Canada has just won the very first Short Track Racing event at Daytona International Speedway!
The UNOH Battle at the Beach was a historical two-day event with practice & qualifying leading up to the “Feature Event” held on Tuesday evening. Being the first race event of its kind along with all the NASCAR “Stars of Short Track Racing” it’s a special win for any driver competing for the coveted Daytona prize. History was made tonight!
Cameron Hayley recently signed up with the 2011 & 2012 Championship Team of Gene Price Motorsports of Parker Arizona. Daytona was the first race of the 2013 season. Drivers from across the USA, Canada and Spain were in the competition.
During this two-day event Hayley was fast from the beginning! He and Team Mate Greg Pursley set the pace with very fast laps in both practice & qualifying.
Just last year; Hayley in his Rookie Year was nominated by “NASCAR” as one of the “Next Nine!” A Driver showcased by NASCAR as one to watch in his climb as one of the next stars in NASCAR’s top levels of the sport. Hayley proved it again tonight!
Hayley’s first NASCAR race was when he was only 15 years old. He finished a strong second place. Tonight he won his first NASCAR race and that was the icing on the cake for the young and upcoming Stock Car Star.
A race like no other at the World Center of Racing; Daytona International Speedway!
