Opening day race roundup at the 2013 Grand Prix of Valcourt

Tim Tremblay scores another Snocross win in Valcourt, American Malcolm Chartier  wins Friday Pro Champ 440 Finale

Grand Prix Ski-Doo de Valcourt présenté par FOX logo2012-02-17_0623Tim Tremblay won Friday’s Pro Open snocross major race at the 31st running of the Grand Prix Ski-Doo of Valcourt presented by FOX. The Quebec rider, who usually runs in the American ISOC championship, easily won his match against 13 other competitors, crossing the finish line six seconds ahead of David Joanis of Cochrane, Ontario and Robbie Malinoski of Stacy, Minnesota.

On the Yvon Duhamel ice oval track, the main Pro Champ 440 snowmobile event of the day went to Michigan’s Malcolm Chartier who claimed an easy win ahead of Nicholas Van Strydonk of Tomahawk, Wisconsin and Quebec rider Felipe Roy-Lalonde.

For Chartier, this was his 11th win in 17 starts so far this year, his worst finish being a fifth-place in Wisconsin last weekend. Local crowd favourite Jacques Villeneuve of St-Cuthbert finished sixth. In the Semi-Pro Champ class, Sabrina Blanchet held off a last lap attack from Michael Soucy of Hopkinton, New Hampshire to score her first major class win in Valcourt.

It was the 15-year old young woman’s first victory in the Eastern Pro Tour Series. Cole McMicheal of Lefroy, Ontario finished third.


Back to snocross action, Donovan Asselin of La Doré, Quebec got his first taste of glory in Valcourt by winning the finale round of the ECS-SCMX Pro Open Triple Crown finale, finishing ahead of Corin Todd of Otego, NY and Lincoln Lemieux of St. Johnsbury, Vermont.

Asselin took the lead from the start and never looked back. In the Triple Crown Pro Lite final, Americans swept the podium with Mike Pilotte of Cheshire, Massachusetts winning over Montana Jess of Westminster, MA, and Leo Patenaude of Hartland, Vermont.

The action at the Frand Prix Ski-Doo of Valcout presented by FOX continues Saturday starting at 9:30 a.m. with the first rounds of qualifying on both the oval and snocross tracks. Final races of day will begin a little after lunch.

Tickets for the Saturday and Sunday (February 16-17, 2013) Grand Prix of Valcourt presented by FOX can still be purchased at the Circuit Yvon Duhamel ticket office located at 917, Route 222 in Maricourt, Quebec J0E 2L2.

Daily tickets are available for $30 each day on Saturday and Sunday. Children age 12 and under are admitted free with an adult holding a valid ticket. All guests, including children, must hold a pass to enter the trackside suites.
