A new young racer is joining Auto GP
Formula 3 Italia champion Riccardo Agostini signed with the MP Motorsport team to contest the full 2013 season. The Padua-based racer won the Aci Sport series at his first attempt, beating some very experienced opponents and raising many eyebrows along the way among the motorsports insiders.
Enzo Coloni did non miss the chance to have him on board and put him behind the wheel of the a Scuderia Coloni-prepared GP2 Series car in testing at Barcelona. Then, Agostini drove a Formula 1 Ferrari as a prize for his championship run. Born on the 20th of April, 1994, he’s the youngest driver to have joined Auto GP for 2013 so far.
Enzo Coloni: “Another talented young driver has joined Auto GP for 2013. I’m glad he’s Italian, because in such a tough moment for Italy’s racing panorama, our championship can provide the deserving drivers with a chance to display their skills. Agostini will be lined-up by MP Motorsport, one of the most competitive and professional squads in the series, and I’m sure they will stand out in many occasions”.
Sander Dorsman: “We’re proud to have Riccardo in our team for the 2013 season. He’s a young and very promising racer with great skills and lots of ambition. Last season, he demonstrated his full potential by winning the F3 Italia series and we’re sure he will be among the frontrunners of Auto GP”.
Riccardo Agostini: “My goal is to learn the car which is remarkably faster than in Formula 3, and fight to win a very tough championship with top teams and drivers. I’m very satisfied with this deal with MP Motorsport, this will be a key experience in order to make a successful move to GP2. I want to thank Enzo Coloni for his trust and to have enabled me to join a top developmental series like Auto GP”.
