Ghirelli, Kuroda and Sato bring fresh note to upcoming Auto GP test in Barcelona
The cars will be lining-up at the venue, which is located outside Barcelona, on Thursday, December the 6th and Friday, December the 7th. Once again, the winter tests will enable teams to evaluate new drivers coming from other categories for possible 2013 deals.
Italian Vittorio Ghirelli will be driving the 2012 championship-winning car of Adrian Quaife-Hobbs, fielded by Super Nova. The Rome-based 18-year-old racer, has just rounded out a learning season in the World Series by Renault. Euronova will be lining-up an all-Japanese pair consisting on Yoshitaka Kuroda and Kimiya Sato. 25-year-old Kuroda has a long-standing relation with Vincenzo Sospiri’s team and was lined-up in the 2011 Formula Abarth championship before moving up to the Italian F.3 Championship. Sato, a 23-year-old from Hyiogo, is coming from a third-place in the 2012 German F.3 series and also lined-up in the Japanese and European Formula 3 championships in the past.
Enzo Coloni: “I’m proud to announce that Vittorio Ghirelli, Yoshitaka Kuroda and Kimiya Sato will be on-track next week at Barcelona in the upcoming Auto GP Test. Vittorio is definitely one of the emerging talents in Italian motorsports. Yoshitaka and Kimiya are proving that the recognition of our championship has gone well beyond Europe and that’s been one of our goals since the beginning. All three of them will be relying on some extremely professional teams like Super Nova and Euronova. Ghirelli also spent one day testing with our simulator and I’m very satisfied of the feedback he provided. In the next few days we’ll be unveiling the rest of the line-up, and lots of news are expected”.
