Solaris Motorsport field two cars at Pergusa for Francesco Sini, Simone Iacone

The Superstars Pergusa roster welcomes a new addition to an already exciting competition

Superstars - francesco - siniSuperstars logoThe Superstars International Series is ready to rev it up again this weekend at Pergusa for the final round of the season and a great new addition has made it to the roster. At the Sicilian venue, Solaris Motorsport will field two Chevrolet Lumina racers – the team’s second American-powered car will be featuring experienced Simone Iacone behind the wheel. Born and raised in Pescara, Iacone will join Francesco Sini, who drove the Lumina to positive results this season, including an outstanding win at Mugello and a podium finish behind Tonio Liuzzi and Max Pigoli at Monza.

Iacone has a long-standing experience in racing and enjoyed a good share of success over the years. In 2010, he won the Italian Seat León Supercopa championship, while his roll of honour also features a title in the European Alfa Challenge and several entries in the WTCC on a BMW 320i.

“We’re extremely proud to finally field a second Lumina – told Solaris Motorsport Team Manager Christian Grasso – our car has what it takes to be competitive at Pergusa so I expect a couple of good races for us. Having an experienced driver like Iacone in our line-up is also important. With him and Sini on the grid we hope to have some serious fun”.

The final showdown for the 2012 SUPERSTARS INTERNATIONAL SERIES will kick-off on Sunday, October the 28th. Both the International and the Italian championships are still up for grabs with some of the best talents in racing contending them, Tonio Liuzzi (Mercedes), Johan Kristoffersson (Audi) and Thomas Biagi (BMW).

The SUPERSTARS Sunday will kick-off at 9:50 AM with the running of GTSPRINT Race 1, followed by the first run of SUPERSTARS at 11:15. GTSPRINT will be back on-track at 14:50 while Race 2 of SUPERSTARS will provide the weekend with a spectacular closure at 16:15.
