Superstars Series to line-up sensational field this weekend at Vallelunga

Superstars, GTSprint teams and drivers look forward to exciting weekend, record crowds

Superstars - vitantonio liuzziSuperstars logoThe Superstars show is about to go underway at Vallelunga, as teams and drives are set to line-up tomorrow for practice and qualifying. The Italian racetrack, located close to Rome, will welcome many high-flying racers starting from Giancarlo Fisichella, who is set to make his series debut aboard a Swiss Team-prepared Maserati Quattroporte alongside Mauro Cesari.

In addition to the force of his brand-new rival, championship leader Tonio Liuzzi (Mercedes C63 AMG) will have to deal with many top challengers, including Swede Johan Kristoffersson. The Abruzzo-based former F.1 racer holds a 19-point margin over the Audi Sport KMS man and will count on a new team-mate, Andrea Bacci. In addition to Kristoffersson, the Audi banner will be held by Gianni Morbidelli. The RS5 racecars will benefit from an air restrictor break granted by the technical bureau and the Pesaro-based man, who dominated at Spa-Francorchamps, is definitely looking forward to put together another impressive showing. BMW racer Thomas Biagi will be equally determined in fighting for wins aboard a Team Dinamic BMW M3 E92, lining-up alongside two new team mates like Max Mugelli and SUPERSTARS rookie Giovanni Berton.

Two fascinating British racecars will be fielded by Team Ferlito. Max Pigoli and Domenico Ferlito will be back behind the wheel of their Jaguar XFR racers. Francesco Sini and the Solaris Motorsport Chevrolet Lumina will also be a force to be acknowledged. The Italian has scored his maiden win this season and wants to do it all again. Vallelunga will also welcome a brand-new contender to SUPERSTARS, the Roma Racing Team Mercedes C63 AMG Coupé driven by Domenico Caldarola, while the classic four-door saloon version will be fielded again in a two-car line-up by Team Romeo Ferraris. Drivers Andrea Larini and Camilo Zurcher will be leaving nothing to fate in their quest for victory.

While a new car has joined the championship’s ranks, two stars are set to return. MRT by Nocentini will be fielding an highly-revamped Lexus IS F for youngster Michele Faccin as well as their renowned Chrysler 300C, driven by Alessandro Battaglin. Three more BMWs will join the field with W&D Racing’s Walter and Paolo Meloni and experienced Gianni Giudici behind the wheel.

In GTSPRINT, GTS3 class leader Mario Cordoni, driving a Ferrari 458 Italia for Ombra Racing Team, will be fending the attacks of the Corvette duo of Del Castello-Benedetti (RC Motorsport). The Maserati GT3 of Swiss team will be major news, running for the first time in the hands of Alessandro Pier Guidi and World FIAGT Champion Gabriele Gardel, while the Porsche of Angelo Proietti will also be part of a competitive field. With one win and one third-place finish at Spa-Francorchamps, Andrea Palma cruised to the GTS2 title with four races to go, but the Rome-based Black Team driver wants to continue on an high note at his home venue. He will be partnered by the father-daughter duo on Francesca and Luciano Linossi. On the other hand, GTS Cup Trophy leader Steven Goldstein will have to keep rivals Bocellari-Delli Guanti at bay. The Colombian will move to the Lamborghini camp, sharing the RallySpor t Gallardo with Raffaele Giammaria. M-Racing will be back in the game by fielding a Porsche 997 for Emanuele Romani, while Scuderia Baldini 27 Network will rely on the services of Lorenzo Casè and Matteo Malucelli and Vittorio Bagnasco will return on his GDL-prepared Porsche.

The SUPERSTARS SERIES will be available to fans for free. By clicking on www.eurosuperstars.com, they will be able to reserve a FREE TICKET for the circuit’s grandstand. The supporters of the FG GROUP-promoted championships will also have the chance to cheer for their favourite drivers at home by tuning on RAI SPORT 2, while a wide international TV coverage will also be available. Race 1 of GTSPRINT is scheduled for 9:00 AM on Sunday, followed by Race 1 of SUPERSTARS at 11:15. Race 2 of GTSPRINT will be taking-off at 14:05, while the weekend will come to its grand finale with the running of SUPERSTARS Race 2 at 16:15.
