Auto GP driver announcement
Following a highly successful Round One in Monza, where Adrian converted pole position into a race one win and backed this up with a fine podium in the reverse grid race two, both team and driver are ready to build on this and make a full assault on the 2012 title. Adrian has previously been a race winner in Formula Renault 2.0 and GP3 and joins the team following a positive Formula One test with the Marussia Virgin Racing team at the end of 2011.
Victor Guerin, from Brazil, has also proved to be a race winner throughout his career so far, with wins in Formula Abarth, Brazilian and Italian Formula 3. His talent was evident as soon as he jumped in the car for the official Auto GP test and was regularly at the top of the time sheets. Victor was involved in two minor accidents in the Monza races, both damaging his front wing. He still showed exceptional race pace though and would have been a contender for the race two win without this damage.
Adrian Quaife-Hobbs – Car 10
‘I am really happy to be driving the full year for Super Nova in the Auto GP World Series – It’s a fantastic opportunity, especially after such a positive weekend in Monza. I have been very impressed with the team and how they operate and I hope that we can build on what we have achieved so far and carry this momentum through the rest of the season.
Victor Guerin – Car 11
‘I am very happy to be working with Super Nova this year. Everyone has welcomed me into the team, which has been great, and I think that together we can achieve great results. They have had plenty of success with this car and I think that I can learn a lot from their experience.’
David Sears – Team Principal
‘We are really pleased to have secured the signatures of both Adrian Quaife-Hobbs and Victor Guerin for the Auto GP World Series.
Adrian is one of the British Racing Drivers Clubs’s rising stars and I am sure that with his outright speed combined with an advanced engineering understanding, he should be capable of fighting for the championship and following in the footsteps of Romain Grosjean and Luca Filippi.
Victor has won races in each category he has contested and we believe that we can develop him into a championship contender and also let him understand the english system of race teams.’
