The 10th edition of the Ford Racing Festival, presented by Budweiser and sponsored by Ford Focus, is gearing up for a weekend of exciting performances, exhibits and show cars on display, taking place August 18, 19 and 20. The event, which draws close to 350,000 race fans each year, will kick-off on Thursday and feature Ford Racing driver appearances, Q&A’s and a photograph session. The three-day event runs from 11 am to 11 pm on Crescent Street, between de Maisonneuve and Ste-Catherine streets, and concludes every evening with electrifying concerts on the Ford Focus stage.

Throughout the weekend, festival goers will be able to participate in the Ford Racing Pit Stop Challenge, where they can compete against friends to see who can change a tire the fastest, or just enjoy the Ford products and show cars on display. A Media Pit Stop Challenge will kick-off the official activities on Thursday at 4:30 pm with representatives from various media outlets going up against each other.

A new and exciting activity this year will be the Ford Racing Simulator where visitors can get strapped into a full motion D-box simulator and play the all new Dirt 3 game featuring the Ford Focus rally car. The Ford Racing driver Q&A and autograph sessions will begin at 6 pm on Thursday, August 18 with Nationwide Series drivers Ricky Stenhouse Jr and J.R. Fitzpatrick, along with Grand Am Rolex Series drivers Ozz Negri, John Pew and Ryan Dalziel.

“The Ford team is thrilled to be celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Ford Racing Festival on Crescent Street with its dedicated fans,” said Rick Gemin, Sponsorships and Events Manager for Ford Canada. “Now more than ever, we are excited to offer plenty of entertainment for a weekend of events that the whole family can enjoy.”

A variety of different cars will be on display in the Ford Zone and activities will be held over the course of the entire weekend. Everyone is encouraged to have their photo taken with these powerful cars and the Ford hostesses.

“Racing is such a big part of Montreal’s culture in the summer,” said Melissa Lessard, Marketing Manager on-Premise at Labatt. “The Budweiser team is pleased to be a part of such a great event on Crescent Street.”

“This festival is important to Crescent Street and Montreal,” said Steve Siozios, Co-President of the Crescent Street Merchants Association. “We want Montrealers to realize it, but most of all we want everyone to enjoy a fun-filled race-themed weekend on Crescent Street.”

No Crescent Street festival would be complete without top entertainment and concerts every evening and the 2011 line-up is no different. Thursday will offer two home-grown talents. At 7 pm, Raffy, a product of the Musique Plus program “House Band recherché 2011” will start the musical action on the Ford Focus Stage. One of Montreal’s most energetic cover bands, Rusty, will follow at 9 pm.

On Friday night at 7 pm, NASCAR race fans will feel right at home with the unique Canadian Country/Rock band, Desert Heat. Nominated for “Independent Group of the Year” and “Top New Talent – Group or Duo” for their 2005 debut album. Then, at 9 pm, Rise Up, formerly known as Pop Zone, will take the stage with its one-of-a-kind style influenced by their Asian and Moroccan exile. These young Quebec musicians have come back with a new name and a new style full of energy.

Saturday will definitely rock on Crescent when the internationally known group Bran Van 3000 will take to the stage at 9:30 pm, presented by SIRIUS Satellite Radio. The Montreal band has seen sold-out crowds in Montreal recently and has made high profile appearances in the past at the Montreal Jazz Festival. The Bran Van 3000 soundsystem and its leader James DiSalvio are preparing an “opera-indie-house” concert featuring the best songs and richest orchestrations from the band’s four albums. Atomic, who will open the night at 7 pm, are a group of six musicians and singers performing cover songs from yesterday and today, with pop, disco, funk, rock and more.

“What better way to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Ford Racing Festival than with an incredible line-up of performances, activities, cars and guest appearances,” said Brian Fogt, president of BBF Promotions and Events. “We look forward to providing race fans with fun filled festival.”
