Caldwell files first 2010 entry

 Bobby Caldwell became the first official 2010 F2000 Championship Series driver

Bobby Caldwell became the first official 2010 F2000 Championship Series driver last week as he was at the front of the line when series registration opened.  Caldwell returns to the #80 Van Diemen under the Caldwell Racing banner for a third F2000 season with engineering support provided by Liberty Motorsports and support from sponsors Freitag Weinhardt, Industrial Outsourcing Services and Ryan Fire Protection.

Mercedes sponsor deal ends in dispute

 A potentially lucrative sponsorship deal for Mercedes’ newly acquired and rebranded formula one team looks set to end in dispute

The German financial newspaper Handelsblatt reports that, earlier this year, the Brackley based team’s Brawn GP management agreed a three-year 90 million euro contract with Henkel. Dusseldorf-based Henkel is an adhesives and liquids company that has previously sponsored McLaren. Read the rest of this entry »

The run on the 2010 cockpits has begun

The Formula 3 Euro Series just has completed the most successful season since its creation back in 2003 – and the preparations for the 2010 season are running flat out. Up to 1st March, 2010, interested teams will have the possibility to enter their drivers for one of the 32 grid positions available, with the number of grid positions being limited to three drivers per team. F2000 Championship Series registration is officially open!

2010 Registration now open

The schedule is firm at the announced  seven double race weekends beginning at VIR in April, then Road Atlanta in May, Mosport in June, Watkins Glen 4th of July weekend, Lime Rock late July, Road America in August and the finale at Mid Ohio over Labor day weekend. Read the rest of this entry »

British bank buys stake in Manor/Virgin team

Nearly half of Lloyds is owned by the British taxpayer.

As was reported in October, the British bank Lloyds plans to enter formula one in 2010 by buying a share of the new Manor/Virgin team. The earlier reports said the stake, to be taken up by Lloyds’ private equity arm LDC, could be worth up to 15 million pounds sterling. Read the rest of this entry »

Raikkonen’s manager denies Red Bull/F1 talks

Kimi Raikkonen’s manager has denied that talks about the Finn returning to formula one with Red Bull in 2011 are already taking place.
